Exterior Plastic caree

My 2018 OR is about 2 months old. What is everyone using to protect their exterior plastics? Don’t want the fender flares to fade.

 

been using 303 for over 10 years now.
interior and exterior plastic, tires and headlights as well.

my headlights have started to get a little foggy, but not even 1/4 as bad as i have seen on some 2nd gens.

seems like it started as a UV protectant for boats and other "gel coat" paint jobs.

still have my original bottle with this logo

 

Like others have said, 303. For my headlights, I wax them with synthetic wax, in between waxes I use the 303. Rub it in really well with a rag so it won’t streak. I also use it in the interior plastics.

 

Thanks..... will give it a try. I used to use armor all on stuff like that but I feel sometimes that makes it worse..... and you must keep reapplying armor all at a more constant basis...... is 303 more of a matte protectant?

 

Yes it’s more matte especially if you buff it in, and it protects against uv rays too.....throw the armor all in the trash, it’s junk.

 

Miracle, this stuff. 18 months of hard use on my truck and the black plastic still looks showroom fresh (aside from some rock chips in a few spots, that is.. )

I absolutely cannot STAND seeing a bunch of faded ass black plastic that looks light gray (Avalanche owners, I'm talking about you!) where they never cared for it and/or ran it through a car wash with wax.

That's the other thing... keep wax off your black plastics. 303 is all you need on the black trim. Excellent cleaner and protectant. Also works well on most things powder coated like steps/siders/racks

I'm at a crossroads. I'm the type to take care of my stuff. I have a bottle of 303 in the garage cabinet at home. I had black accent's on my 05 that didn't fade up until year 10 at the earliest. I don't want to start applying, because as soon as you do, it becomes something you have to keep applying to maintain. Still debating what I'll do.

 

VRP is good, but it will wash off in rain. I just picked up some 303 for exterior rubber/vinyl. Using Chemical Guys Liquid Wax for paint/headlights.

Agreed.... I am right there with you on not wanting to apply before needed.

 

When it starts to fade it is time to trade it off.

I put a coat of Meguiar's Ultimate liquid wax on mine. And Meg's Fast Finish.

 

do the wax products you guys apply have UV protection?

 

Yes. You need that to protect pretty much everything.

This is really good stuff but ever since i used carpro d-lux on plastics I only use it on the tires now for that satin look.
Im telling you d-lux is the best for a plastic sealant. Water beads off my grill and mud flaps now.
