Yes. They have a regular non branded stop tech rear disk conversion. No need for rear bbk Bc it will only cause your rear end to grip and turn the vehicle sideways. The proportion valve in our trucks is modern and automatic. My older Classics have a proportion valve that governs how much hydraulic pressure is distributed to the rear.

That is false. Even further down the innacurate spectrum, if the master cylinder is left stock. Since it doesn't apply as much force to a drum setup. This is why SOS Performance offers the master cylinder upgrade, to have the proper pressure applied to the rear.

Agree. The good thing is the disc brake conversion with the stock master is still a big improvement over the drums. I’m considering the larger master now and how loosing VSC will affect other systems in the truck. My main concern is whether it will create a code that will cause me to fail an inspection.

Why does upgrading your master cylinder cause you to lose VSC? Anyone have a link explaining this phenomenon?

I disagree as you are claiming my statement is false. Not sure you read what i posted but i answered the posted question. We can run our stock master cylinder with a rear disc conversion. Now i agree the “upgrade” to the tundra master is probably the better solution for a rear disk brake conversion as it moves more fluid. The question i answered was about a rear big brake kit. My point was that a bbk (big brake kit) is not nessecarily needed for the rear. Regular disk brakes are fine. Now to my second point often when you covert drums to disk a proportion valve is required. In the Tacoma the master cylinder is capable to operate the conversion with out the tundra master cylinder upgrade. Again the “tundra master cylinder upgrade” is probably better for the swap and worth the money to do so.

Here is the rear disk i would do. Onto the rear. In my opinion the rear BBK is a waste of money. It adds $1000 but will look way cooler if it’s a show truck etc.

Here is another link. I was hinting at rear wheel lock up. That probably won’t happen with our abs system. But still just pointing out that it’s not on the “inaccurate spectrum”

The problem with this argument is it has nothing to do with the original question. He wanted to match a rear BBK with a front BBK and ensure the rear kit would fit in a 16” wheel. Not run it solo.

The sequoia master cylinder used isn’t VSC capable. I asked Tom if he knew of one that would work and he told me I’d have to experiment with something like an FJ master, but he had no legwork as of yet.

Fair i went off the reservation. I still think a bbk for the rear is silly.

True, it could be "silly" for some. It all just comes down to the application's necessity.

I’d like both to be in my future, but my feeling is it’s unlikely the front calipers will clear LSK fabbed spindles and I’ll leave things be.

There has to be some people that have a BBK and upgraded spindles. Has to be...

I have a gusseted spindle (not fully fabricated) and they clear fine. I talk with Tom quite a bit and I know the 6 piston kit that requires 17” wheels will not clear Fabtech spindles (drop bracket lift). No idea about LSK though.

Build to suit your needs. Simple as that. My truck is 6300 pounds loaded up for camping/wheeling weekend. And that’s without my trailer hooked up. Brake fade sucks.

As it is, sometimes the stock calipers need a little clearancing for the LSK spindles depending on the particular casting. We’ll see, I’m still waiting on my shocks for install.

I’d even be willing to stop by SOS for a little R&D. It’s not too far of a hike for me.

I bought my truck with hooliganism being the primary intended purpose. Silly works just fine for me, as long as it performs well and looks good.

I have to wonder if upgrading the MC is worth losing VSC. Does this affect any other systems? ABS or A-TRAC?

I really don’t want the VSC. I find it to be more of a handicap than a help. I just need to pass inspection when they plug the OBDII reader in.

On Tom’s website it says not compatible with VSC but it’s a bit of a misnomer. As long as your master only has 2 wires (for the low fluid level) running to it, you can swap masters. If you have a-trac, the master has like 8 wires. Those are the ones that not compatible.

For the record I have a 2012 sport which has auto lsd, traction control, and VSC. Only a 2 wire master. All systems work with the sequoia master.

Cool. Sounds like we have the same truck. Not sure what A Trac is so I’m going to guess I don’t have that.

It’s the Michael J Fox edition tacoma. If you don’t have this button, you don’t have a-trac.
