What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Do you happen to have any links to a how to write-up or web page? Preferably a 2nd gen Tacoma but even a basic how to will help me learn and understand.

 

Nice job! I would add a cargo net across the bed dividing the extender in half. That allow you to transport smaller loads without them tipping over or keep two different loads separate. Using some Velcro will allow the net to be removed if you need the full space.

 

Spray some 303 Protectant on it and it will really pop!

 

Any details on killing the TPMS light? Does that mean you permanently disabled the light?

 

So I have not done this yet- but done TONS of research. Just want to find local MLV because it's so heavy and expensive to ship. But this is what I'm going to do. Doing it this way is the best bet and I hear makes it so you can almost hear a pin drop in your truck driving down the highway.

I've got a pretty similar experience as @dlawrence529 with this one.
I saw a reduction in road noise (not overwhelming by any means, it's no Lexus), it was noticeable... but even more so I heard a better sound quality when listening to music with the windows all the way up --> I have a bad habit of keeping them cracked now that I have the EGR In-Channel Window Visors


I used Dynamat at first to do the flooring -- which I wouldn't say don't bother, but Toyota did a GREAT job on the 2nd Gens vs. the 1st Gens on "sound deadening" from the factory

The back wall is bare so I did that, so is the roof/ceiling... that there might be nice to do, especially in a state with heavy rain, or hail I had a video of the difference of the some metal when dropping it on the ground bare vs. with sound deadening material on it and it is night and day.


Some 1st Gen Pics of the OEM (or lack-there-of sound deadening) the black squares weren't really contributing anything to noise/vibration reduction:

These showed up last week when I was out of the country (Japan)

I haven't had that problem. I wipe it down after spraying it on. Maybe that has something to do with it. I have found that 303 dries to a non greasy surface, unlike Armor All. Adams makes a great product they sell in a spray can call "In & Out" spray dressing.

The stuff in amazing but pricey. It is great for surfaces that have a ton of little nooks and crannies. It would work great but probably use a half of a can or more each time you detailed the engine bay.

 

And it still doesnt sound like a Lexus?

 

New Hankook Dynapro ATM . I went up to 70 from 65 , really fills up the space better . Also put in the FJ wheels . Im kinda liking the no center cap look.

Thanks for the product info, but the extent of my engine bay detailing is Simply Green and a hose.

 

All oem right now. Got a 3 in and some 31-10.5 bighorns might slide under it.

 

LOL....I get it. That is where I start and most times intend to stop or usually wish I COULD stop. Then I figure, oh, just a few sprays and I will leave it to dry. Then I figure, well, it will only take a minute to wipe it down, and then......three hours later I have detailed most of the truck! Is there a self help thread for over cleaning?

 

Yeah I permanently disabled it. I desoldered the led bulb from the board, but unfortunately didn’t take a picture of what contacts to work with. It’s pretty easy to do. There might be a way to disable it with techstream, but I didn’t feel like waiting lol.

Btw That whole removing the TPMS monitor above the headliner doesn’t work, if you run into that thread.

 

Tell me about it I took my seats out to clean my interior a few weeks back lol

 

I am not sure what I am going to do. Probably put the sensors in a pvc pipe glue it shut and pressurize it to 32lbs then toss the pipe in the truck somewhere. But I have not researched the idea of disabling the light.....yet.
