Don't forget that with Prime, you also get a ton of TV shows and movies to watch. Not quite as good as Netflix's library but close, IMO. Between Prime and Netflix, I haven't had cable TV in nearly 6 years.

Not tacoma related but it influences whether I drive my Tacoma, Land Cruiser is still being a dick and finally threw an OBD I code at me, Code 26... running rich. Well no shit, if you misfire you're gonna run rich, still doesn't seem to know it is misfiring though so that's a lot of help.

Prime is also going up in price soon, if it hasn't already. I think it's going up to $120 a year....used to be $100. Still though, for all the movies, shows and fast/free shipping...it's a hell of a deal.

I love wiring. Electrical is always a great skill to have.

About two years ago, I converted my doors from crank windows, manual locks, and manual mirrors to full power using 2004 Double Cab door components. From the OEM door harnesses within the doors it plugs into a custom retrofit system that isolates the wiring from the dash harness, making it it’s own independent system.

I used to know jack and shit about automotive wiring, but I asked questions and got a lot of help from the great people on this forum and now I’m pretty comfortable with this stuff.

Automotive wiring is confusing to me, but i can draw you up a complete ladder digram of a ac system using random parts i have lying around and it will work just as good as a modern circuit bored. Can wire a whole house to lol

Yeah, I'll get it sorted out, just need time and some plausible faults to check.

Took apart my drivers front door and cleaned/inspected the lock actuator. It has been giving me some issues not completely unlocking. I cleaned everything with kerosene and then re-lubed all the slides and moving parts with wheel bearing grease. I also cracked open the assembly to get a look at the motor incase the cleaning and degreasing doesnt fix it. Was hoping there would be some number on the motor identifing it. I can't imagine spending 300 buck or more on a new actuator. 20180529_150636.jpg 20180529_150640.jpg 20180529_150750.jpg 20180529_151549.jpg 20180529_151755.jpg

Alright so I learned on my camping trip this weekend that my new Dakars don't hold weight in the bed worth a shit...if anything they're worse than my previous 3 leaf AAL + stock pack setup. So I ordered the AAL for the packs and was wondering if it's recommended to remove the leaf packs entirely to install the AALs or is it also possible to leave them mounted to the hangars/shackles and slip the AAL into the pack?

Asking because I had a hell of a time getting my bolts to line up last time I put these Dakars in, so if there's a possible way to leave them bolted on the truck but still install the AALs, that's the way I'd like to try. I've found one video online of a guy that did it this way on his older 4runner but the video is pretty vague.

I took mine off and undid the whole thing, but i didnt have issues with the shackles. Do the Ubolts last this time and you shouldnt have an issue with the shackle. You can also connect the shackles first then connect the front. Might be easier that way.

I needed the aal for sure with my dakars

If I remember right, the issue I had with doing the shackles/hangars before the u-bolts was that then the center pin on the leaf springs wouldn't line up with the axle...was too far forward. By putting the leaf springs on the axle and securing them with the u-bolts first, I knew that they were at least sitting in the proper location on the truck...and then I had to ratchet strap the hell out of the springs to get them to move into place for the shackles.

I guess I could try it the other way, I'd just have to move the axle forward to line up with the center pins..probably via ratchet strap as well. Part of the problem too was that my driveway is slightly off-camber so my truck was a bit uneven side-to-side, which made lining up the bolts harder than it should've been. Will see if I can get it more level this time.

Was hoping there was an easy way to do the AAL with them still on the truck but it seems like it's easier to just take the leaf packs out and put the AAL in, then reinstall the packs.

.....and yes, I wish I had researched a bit more on the Dakars load carrying ability, was pretty disappointed in their ability to carry my camping weight this weekend. Was riding on my superbumps nearly the whole time. I'm a little concerned the AAL might not be quite enough for when I have the bed fully loaded, but should help. If I still need more I'll probably get some adjustable shackles for another inch or so.

I was concerned as well but with the aal i was fine weighted down this past weekend, was really concerned about flexing out with all that weight, but its a better leaf pack for the wheeling you do w the camping gear, rtt, etc with the AAL. I like to do the same kinda wheeling you do, so it will be fine. I am stoked with how it performed. When I did my AAL i also had both leafs off the axle, this also could explain why I had no issues with the shackles.
