    @Unner

    When you went through the Grand Canyon, where and how close to it did you stay? Did you have to reserve a site?

    It was gonna stain if I didn’t. This volcanic clay is a bitch if it sits.

    I’m just excited to camp more. I haven’t been in so long and I couldn’t fit any stuff in the 86 to even go to a campground

    Well the trip is over... My grad classes started tonight, so naturally I didn't leave Hanksville, Utah until around 10 AM Yesterday to make a dash across the country.

    I made it to class with 4 minutes to spare. 1,650 miles in 29.5 hours. I took 2 naps for a total of 2 hours of sleep on the way back...

    Kansas was an absolute mess with storms. It was insane. The wind blew so hard out of nowhere that it pushed me into the next lane. It was pretty scary. After that it only got worse... I was driving 40 mph down the interstate, until that was even unsafe and I had to pull off and wait it out for an hour. I saw 2 semis flipped on the interstate from this storm that covered the western half of the state. I've also never seen lightning like this either. The sky would light up for 5-10 seconds with nonstop lightning.

    I had zero issues with the truck the entire way. In the end it was somewhere around 9,000 miles. I haven't totalled the mileage yet. Not many 17 year old vehicles with 250k+ miles you can say that about though...

    I'll post a couple pictures later of the places I saw since my last update since like @AssBurns said, there won't be a trip report for 6 more months haha

    We didn't camp there, we got a hotel since it was winter and it gets really cold up there. If you're going during peak season you probably need a reservation. Are you driving there, or flying? If you're driving or have a truck of some sort there's a couple trails along the north rim I wanted to check out, but didnt get a chance to. They're also probably only open in the summer.

    Man I woke up yesterday morning in Utah and it was 36 degrees with no humidity. I get back here and it's 80+ with 90% humidity. I thought my body was going to explode haha

    I'll be driving with a lady friend in her car, a little Hyundai hatchback, and I don't think she'll appreciate us trying to wheel in it. I've looked at some camp grounds but I can't find any with openings.

    Is this at all accessible via not 4 wheel drive (see above)? I'm not going till the end of August so there's still plenty of time to plan. But anywhere within a couple hours of the grand canyon would be preferred
