That's correct, it measures ambient and the drop based on the air moving past it. ECU knows that at this RPM, this much air would be moving past the MAF, therefore the temp I measured registering ambient air temp should be xyz air temp based on the other probe (measuring the drop). I don't know about the MAP sensor or anything else, that's beyond me.

I wish I had my OBDII scanner when I took my trip back in February to AZ; I would have loved to see what my instant and averaged fuel economy going through Idaho and Utah at 85mph

Here you go son, link for the airbox, and a link for the tube. All I had to get next were the resonator for the tube and the smaller one for the crankcase ventilation tube.

Oh yeah its different. I bought a MAF sensor for my truck a month or so ago, only to realize it fit your 3.4 engine, not the one I have. Integrated in the tube and not a drop in style MAF like mine.

My afe intake has never had a problem

But op that cai you have seems kinda sketch especially with no kind of heat sheild and flex piping. No wonder you were having problems with it. Im sure you would of saw improvements over that one with a different cai.

No problems with my Volant CAI with an AFE dry filter. Had it on for a couple years.

There is a whistle once I get around 80 mph on the highway. Other than that I can’t hear it.

There is an option on their website to request a CARB EO# sticker. It passes inspection in NC but I’m guessing you need that sticker in the People’s Republic of California?

Yeah that flex hose is bad news, but trust me I tried so many different combinations. That setup in the photo you saw actually worked better than a hybrid K&N setup I put in after. The only goal I was trying to accomplish was fitting an intake with the aux battery I installed; nothing more. The photos below show what it looked like when it worked for 6 years with the K&N just fine. Also added a few after removing the flex hose; the last one with everything on the ground is what I removed. The Optima Yellow Top finally died after 7 years, so the grey Super Start replaced it as the aux battery.

I really wish photos would show up as thumbnails instead of full size images; is anyone else having this problem when they specify thumbnails?

Those were just some braided steel oversleeving I did to dress up the rubber; pointless and waste of money. Looks cool though. The shop I take it to told me a month or so ago that all of the bends in conjunction with the diameter of the tube I was using could really affect the MAF and ECU, causing the CEL to come on. They mentioned that the factory intake had only one bend, that was from the manifold and throttle body. I tend to overengineer everything, such as with this.

Got it, velocity stack with no filter is best for our engines.
