    Hello,

I bought my truck back in October 2017.. The auto alarm was never discussed in the buying process. However, yesterday when i was cleaning the floor mats i saw what i think is the alarm.. I then proceeded to tested it, but it doesn't work..
My question is, do dealerships install alarms in all their vehicles but deactivate them when not included in the purchase of the truck?IMG_3078.jpg

    IMG_3084.jpg
The box is located on the left panel below the dashboard near the brake pedal...

Can the alarm be activate it? if so, how difficult would it be? i called the dealership and they said to bring it in that they can activate it for $695.00
    Thanks!

This looks super ratty. Even for dealers standards I think this might be a home gamer haha.

You are right, when i called the dealer today, they transferred me to the fiance department, and thats when they offer me to activate it for $695.00.. I wonder if activating it is easy to do, or does it have to be done by the dealer?

I would think so. They probably put tape over the power cable.

If you need an alarm then get a quality alarm of your choice with the extra bells and whistles. The one the dealer installs is a cheap ass alarm that they get for 20-40 bucks installed and mark it up in finance to scam people.

    1. That's definitely not factory.
    2. That equipment is crap ( as you already know)
    3. The install is quick and sketchy. No reputable shop uses T-Taps and doesn't try to hide the alarm brain to some degree.

You might just need the remotes, but that may cost a bit more. If its already wired in, You could get the cheap one and just swap the brains... they probably just didnt wire in the power, or took out the fuse, something stupid like that.
But as mentioned above, cheap may cause problems, shorts, or worse...:bananadead:
