Significant increase in HP? No. But you will see less issues with driveability.

I would like to see the same power gains on 87 that is achieved with 91. If it's doable on the Camry it would be great to see it on the Tacoma with 87 in the tank.

Is there anybody in or near (2 hours) Asheville who would not mind giving me a ride in an OV tuned 3rd gen Tacoma? The area bounded by Charlotte NC, Greenville SC, Johnson City TN, Knoxville TN?

What do you guys think of full OTTO and how it would perform in the bottom end?
I will guess 10 hp and smother take offs.

I wouldn't mind trying it but I think fuel mileage would probably suffer and with the recent spike in fuel costs it' not something I would run for very long.

I don't know enough about full otto besides the fundamental concept to have more than a curiosity about it. Looking forward to seeing what testers say about it, once mat is ready to shift his attention to an OTTO tune

I think many of us are old enough to know about Otto.

Fuel prices here are expected to hit $1.60/litre. That's roughly $6.40 a gallon. Yeah I care about fuel mileage.

Love turbos and a well engineered set up won't hurt fuel mileage as long as you keep your foot out of it.

    Yeah kinda the same here.

I'd like to know how the truck responds in the low-mid RPM range when it's denied entry to the Atkinson clown orgy.

Edit: oh and I want to know how engine braking is affected!

Should be smoother as you are removing another layer in the programing,or at least the Atkinson. Otto transition.
Engine braking should be the same.
most likely it’s in full OTTO during decel mode through out the rev range,at least that is what it feels like.
If not, you will have increased engine braking as there will higher compression.

The Camry, Sienna and Highlander have Atkinson/Otto cycling and you can't feel when they switch.

It will have zero effect on hp. The only thing to hope for is quicker response from low output to high output as 'Atkinson' is only active at low output.

    ...and the Lexus LC500 V8 (0-60=4.5s).

Thanks for the offer cyclon58. These discussions always make me wonder about what might be. For now, I think I'm satisfied with what is.

Come on now, Cannuck...can ya dumb it down for us 'mercans please? We don't do this sensible and logical base ten metric crap!

I've been following this thread since I joined. I know you are a huge fanboy, Frank. I really wish I could drive a truck that has the tune. I enjoy driving my truck so much, I just can't imagine $800 worth of improvement.

I think there’s definitely $800 worth of improvement. I also drive about 40k+ a year so I’m sure that has something to do with it too… im definitely happy with what it’s done for the truck thus far
