    40-50mph slide impact to a i'd say a 8-10 year tree.

Tree did lose. but so did the truck. sliders and mounts didnt have so much a ding on them. mounts kept the frame stright.

well nothing you posted is fact... 1. SDHQ uses stronger material with a higher tensile strength, 2. they use larger mounts and better stronger hardware 3. they use a design that is supported along 100% of the length of the slider.

the legs are supported to the frame where it bolts. its not a full length bracket mount. what does material do they use? HREW or DOM? You can ask AP to use either. I went with DOM.

door was never hit by the tree Cliff. You assumed too much.

Vehicle rolled and initial impact was roof.

pretty sure I see a mount at the very front and the very rear of the slider that both tie into the frame, thus 100% supported....

Body mount is in fact part of the frame and mounting them in such a way not only increases strength and support but also helps to prevent deflection

tube sizing was a huge debate on these during development. I pushed for 2" main 1.75" outer. They opted for 1.75" main with 1.5" outer. Tensile strength of the 1.5 and 1.75 design still out performs any other slider on the market while being substantially lighter, but the 2"/1.75" combo would have made it unfair haha and still been lighter than other options.

I have the original 2"/1.75" combo on my truck. love them.

    Much appreciated.

We don't see many big trucks, let alone brodozers, in California these days. All the libs love the Prius, Tesla, Leaf, etc. :tumbleweed:

I wonder if SDHQ are gonna spit in my sliders after they see this thread. :D

Ha ha nah. They are good people over there and always go out of their way for customers. Sorry your initial experience wasn't ideal, maybe it was an off day for them. But I've been buying from them since 2012 and they've been great. Sliders are fantastic as well, I'm sure you'll love them

Sliders are not designed to protect against door dings but it is an added perk that some do... I will follow up in saying they only protect you from most like a car because they sit low to the ground. A full size truck/suv not so much because most likely that door is above your slider so when it swings open it will swing above the slider and hit the door on your truck anyways. I drive a lifted 4Runner on 33's and my F-150 at stock ride height is above the slider...

With all that being said, our sliders sit 2" from the outside tangent edge of the outer tube to the outer most point on the crown of the door. I can't confirm that other sliders share the same dimensions.

I plan to use them off road. The added perk would mostly be for dealing with my neighbor's tiny car at my apartment. They always manage to park as close to my brand new truck as possible, with several more feet of space to spare on the other side of their car. I'm looking forward to them hearing the clanking sound their door will make when it hits a slider. :sawzall:

    Hey Tristan,

I was the one helping you on your contact us that you had sent us. I'm sorry that you feel that we "scoffed" you even though I had answered every question you had asked as directly and informative as possible. I know I did get back to you a week late on the measurement of the slider because I was at Overland Expo West. I did also misread a question and gave you an incorrect measurement. We are not afraid of competitors trying to "copy" our design and none of our info is a secret. I was working on getting you the frame to outside of the slider measurement later that day but we had a customer in possession of the shop Tacoma. A couple of customers have seemed to already chimed in with that info already, thanks guys! I copy and paste our emails below just to make sure you feel you received the best possible customer service as possible because we pride ourselves on giving you all the correct information in the most professional timely manner.

Q: How much do your '16-Current Toyota Tacoma SDHQ Built Rock Sliders weigh?
A: Hey Tristan, Our Tacoma sliders weigh approximately 45 pounds each. We are able to keep the weight of the slider down by going to a higher quality 4130 Chromoly Steel instead of a thicker wall DOM or Mild Steel. If you would like anymore info on our sliders, feel free to email me. We do have these in stock and ready to ship. Thanks, Joey

Q: Hi, Nice on the weight. What is the measurement from the Tacoma frame to the outside of the slider, with and without the kickout.
A: I will have to get the measurements when I get back from the Overland Expo for you.

Q: Did you get the measurements yet? (Following up with me due to being behind from Overland Expo. My apologies on dropping the ball on getting back to you. I also misread the email and gave you the outside to outside measurement. Again, my fault now that I am reading back on it. Thought that was a weird measurement request)
A: 73" from outside to outside at the front of the slider and 76" outside to outside on the kick out portion of the slider.

Q: Thanks. I'm actually trying to find out how much the slider sticks out on one side, measured from the face of the frame. Kind of silly, but I want to know if they stick out enough to protect the doors from dings.:
A: Sliders are not designed to protect from door dings. Also, the height of the car doing the "door dinging" will be different on every vehicle. So there is no way to prevent it from happening.

    Thanks,
    Joey

BAMF full bolt ons are the way to go. Why not just get tube steps if you are concerned about saving weight?
