Hey guys,Im up for a lift, but usually use bed to load stuff I don’t want too much higher...
Was thinking 2 inch lift in front,1 in back.
    Any comments?
    I’m in Osaka,japan.
    Anyone else on this island?
Think body lift is best,as throwing out the sus for adjustable air shocks is against my grain...

Body lift? You'd want to lift the cab and bed the same amount otherwise it's gonna look weird with misaligned body panels.

why is japan in the title? also body lifts are not ideal, i would go with strut spacers before body lift

Not in Japan anymore, was south side (OKI) I can't imagine how bad JCI is with the "monster motor" over there. Not to mention a 3rd gen Tacoma would be HUGE over there.

For those that don't know JCI is Japanese Compulsory Inspection, and vehicles are taxed on a system depending on age and engine size, the bigger the engine and the older the car the higher your annual tax.

How'd you get your Tacoma over there, do they sell them in Japan RHD now or was it a government subsidized PCS import?

As for lift OP look into 5100's and a small 1-2" AAL (add a leaf) that should get you exactly where you want to be.

Thank you bertw,Il see how it goes.bullaculla:
,as for lifting 1 inch back and 2 inch front, yeah,I thought balance would be bitched too,but saw a vid on YouTube comparing lift to stock,an with chatter of leveling kits,I thought this may be a go for me.
The front a lil higher is kikass, but a ramp off the tail raised isn’t good...

Awddude:Japan is in title because I’m in Osaka, japan.
I put a 2” body lift on my hilux surf, thought I’d go with that again.
Strut spacers sound compatible, thank you,Il do some research.

    Key rei:
Okinawa would be a great place to have spent some time, yeah,it’s a midsize stateside, but basically big here, not many places to pull a u turn, even though the turning radius ain’t too bad.
I imported the taco myself, they do not sell them here, and no subsidies.
Since Marchish this year they have the hilux, but not what I wanted.
I have a lhd, and road tax may be high, but I have some kikass writeoffs due to the solar feed in tariff....
    And just a side note,I have not seen one here,not a single 2016 + tacoma ...
    EVER

I personally like lifts but i would not recommend it if you ever use parkings in city.
I dont have lift kits but I have slightly larger wheel and it makes me difficult to get in to some of the parking buildings because of its heights. Most of them limits between 2.0-2.2m, stock Tacoma is 1.98m. You install lifts you can only park on streets and flat parkings.

That is if you use parkings in the city. If not, it will look sweet...

As he mentioned, you will need shops to have it inspected if you were not fluent in Japanese and familiar with maintenance. Every 1yr you need to pay at least JPY100,000 for a regular inspection. If you have lifts and asking shop to do it, they will most likely charge you fees for removing your kits, and installing the kits.

You can have it passed as "Structural change", but this will require many paper works and time. Asking shop will cost you a lot of money as well.

man... they would hate me living on the mainland. my truck is like a weiner dog.

buy bilstein 5100s. ome 887 coils, and aal for rear. i see you have to load shit up in the bed... maintain the rake so it doesnt sag the rear end when you have a bunch of shit in the bed... that should bring you up 2.25 inches up front and 2 inches in the rear. not too high at all.

you gotta pay to play man, no matter where you go. if he imported it there, i'm guessing he loves the truck enough to pay the price of it being "structurally changed".

also, do the work yourself. save yourself the money. if you gotta swap suspension once a year to make it stock, then do so. then bring it back to being a badass lifted Taco...
