Because he has an option available to save weight AND bolt on the strongest slider on the market. Kill 2 birds with one stone :notsure:

I'm a huge advocate of sliders. Mine are nearly 100% mall purposed only as well.

    Just a question

I mean this with the absolute most respect as I am trying to figure out how these

    upload_2018-5-29_22-25-12.jpg
    Are stronger than these

    Thanks, just trying to learn.

Spend a little time researching the tensile strengths of 4130 to DOM to HREW and you will understand. Pay attention to the weights per foot as well.

Then look at the 12" section of unsupported slider at the very front before your first frame plate starts. Then ask yourself, if I were to be dropping this slider on an object, say possibly a rock, isn't it highly likely that that 12" section will bear the weight of the truck, possibly at force? I don't know about you Chad, but it's nice to know that the entire length of the slider from end to end is supported to the frame, not just the center 40"ish

Ok got it. As I said, just trying to educate myself so my continued product recommendations are up to snuff.

I know looks can be deceiving as well.

    Thanks again

There was a lot of thought put into these sliders, probably more than was nessassary but that's why they are the best. They took the time to do things differently and improve upon what's already there instead of just following the leader. Pretty much what SDHQ does with all their products, overthinks them to death, but because they did you don't have to think about them at all cuz you know they're designed right.

I have been actively shopping sliders for a while. I love the look of the SDHQ ones but am also tempted by Pelfreybilt with top plates. I'd love to see the SDHQ ones in action, dropping on some rocks, etc. I tend to agree with @ChadsPride that they just don't look as tough as most of the other designs out there (RCI, Mobtown, Pelfrey, etc.)

Looks can be deceiving. I've had a few big impacts on mine and they haven't budged. More isn't always "more". Sometimes proper material selection and engineering is what you need to build a superior product. Adding more steel doesn't necessarily make one thing stronger than another. But to some, I understand that more is more.

Heard that. Actually one of my favorite sayings (which I use all the time) happens to be "less is more" !

Not trying to start an argument, but just wanted to better understand how blanket statements regarding 'strongest' could be made.

I hear what you are saying. Can the sliders support a truck’s full weight via hi lift jack or fork lift? I see lots of other slider companies testing the strength of their sliders in that manner.
