Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Mine was 12.28 and has never failed

 

Not to mention if this is really a desire the people that want this should trade in for a 2015. The whole big update with the 3rd gens is the engine and the body

 

Yeah I’m like 11.9-12vdc never had a problem.

 

Just flashed mine with 1.04_87.. No issues and currently idling

 

Is anybody getting this error? I know someone posted a couple pages back, but I never saw a fix.

All of this software has been saved to the same computer never been deleted and I have tried downloading tune files. All antivirus has been disabled.

 

We never came up with a fix for it, he stopped responding. Did you install the drivers after downloading them?

 

Yes the drivers were installed after downloading

You can't get flash manager to get the ECU info unless you have drivers installed....

 

I got mine before installing the drivers??
Did you download the tune files together as a zip or individually? If you did it as a zip try doing then separate

 

They did not come as a zip file and they are not compressed in any way. They were downloaded individualy

 

All of the OVTune files I've downloaded and flashed to my truck have had .bin or .hex extensions. I haven't seen a .psf before, but maybe it's something new? Have you tried renaming the files to have a .bin or .hex extension?

 

Looking at the pic, I think it is a p5f. That would make a bit more sense, but I still don't know if that is what it should be.....

 

Anyone ever had this error message come up? If so, what did you do to fix it?

 

Rename the file with a .hex extension instead of .bin

 

Looks like you have the gearbox canbus selected, this is flashing the TCU. I believe you are wanting to flash the ecm which is the selection without gearbox.

So looking at your path in the windows address bar, it appears you are trying to both:

- Run "p5flash"
- install the tune files

from within a "OVT_Softpack" zip file. I could be wrong, but i'm comparing what you have to mine.. You need to unzip the "OVT_Softpack" zip file first.

Can you share your a screen shot of your "Downloads" folder?

 

The files are in an unzipped folder

Funny how this issue seems to be being ignored. Like I've always said, communication is key from a vendor. If this is being looked into, I'd like to know. If not, I'd also like to know and why.

The point of this tune is to improve driveability, in most aspects it has, but in others it's actually worse than the oem tune.

There were discussions many pages ago around the differences between 1-3 and 4-6. Not sure if that is the issue here. What I see is basically the throttle mapping between 1-3 is drastically different than 4-6.

I experienced an interesting issue where if i'm engine braking by putting the transmission into s4 at 60mph, and on a long decel it drops to 50mph i shift to s3. The down shift occurs but after about 5 sec if that, the rpm's drop. So it's either ignoring the S3 and shifting back to 4th or the converter is unlocking. Not sure why at those rpms but i found that concerning and abnormal.

 

Well we are stuck with what we have. 40k investment. Full otto cant be a bas thing?
