Yeah I have heard that more than a few times. Just curious on how to test it. It is. One way valve right, allowing air to escape, but not get in?

That’s it, air can go out, but not in. It’s a one way valve. But, I’ve seen them stop working and turn into a no way valve.

You would think that would blow the axle seals before the third member

Perhaps but Toyota also went to a lighter diff fluid for CAFE requirements, so my theory is the pressurized diff is creating the seaping.

    Check this out

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/blown-axel-seal-rear-diff-breather.297768/

I’m wondering if members that did the ARB breather mod or similar are experiencing the seaping, that would be interesting to find out.

I have basically the same exact situation. Went last July but I went under a few days ago only because my neighbor was talking about his situation and sure enough there is more weeping than there was the first time. I called my service rep this morning and sent him pics. He called back and Im taking her back in this afternoon and they said they already have a loaner for me.

We'll see how it goes this time around....

I took it in this afternoon. My service guy told me that their location alone did 300+ recalls and in the state of Hawaii that number is easily 1000+

My service adviser told me I was the first documented case of a truck getting recall work (in Hawaii and Theres a trillion tacomas in Hawaii) that started weeping again. I was told at the earliest they would be done by Wednesday but hopefully by the end of the week. I got a brand new Corolla as my loaner. Smells nice but still isnt a truck.

My 2016 is running great since the recall. How are the rest of yours holding up after the big impound fiasco?

In above posts..... One is going in for number 3 and I am headed in for a second time.:(
Few a doing ok. Some think it's because the one way breather becomes a no way breather and build a up pressure. :notsure:
Mine was ok up until maybe a month ago. I check it pretty regularly.

Add me to the list. Went in last Tuesday for 15k service and mention that I have notice seeping on my rear diff, 2017 offroad.

Picked it up and the service order noted gaskets and parts on order. They let me drive it home. Are parts still hard to get? Anyone know how long it takes (wrenching time)?

From what I have heard, parts are readily available now. Once they get the part, it should only take a day to install the gaskets. Need to get up the courage to look under mine!
