    Yeah, I hear you. I definitely don't think the issue is being ignored - been working w/ Mat for the last year now and I know he's good on his word and if there's an issue he'll get it resolved. In time :) Truck still drives immensely better than stock and I know once he comes up for air in a few weeks he'll take another look at this. He made a TON of changes to shifting and torque converter stuff in 1.03 and 1.04 and given the complexities in the maps I'm not shocked there are a few minor wrinkles to work out honestly. But - feedback is key so if others are experiencing similar behavior this is the place to share it.

    If anything I think it's worthwhile to share this stuff so Mat knows the things to focus on for more of a "standard" update vs. having a bunch of people asking for "custom" tunes to address a common concern.

    Back in the rolling hills of middle Tennessee, these issues don't surface often. Most of my hills are short and steep where I want it to 3rd until I crest the hill and though it holds 3rd longer than it should at low speeds under low load (like driving in a flat 25mph zone) it doesn't really bother me in that case b/c it's still on the lower end of the RPMs.

    I sense the TC stuff is probably somewhat to blame b/c it's lugging it in 4th with the TC locked when the stock calibration probably wanted it unlocked to climb the RPMs, then lock or half lock when there is some power in 4th - which also caused the annoying JERK many experienced when, say, merging onto the interstate. There's probably a happy medium, and I get that's gonna take more time. I still fully give the tune 5 stars regardless.

    k, so the only thing I did different was click "Identify" first (no real reason) then clicked on "Flash It!" Not sure if clicking "Identify" is really required, but try it?

    You're good to go as your "OVT_Softpack" folder is there (as shown by "Type" as "File Folder") which means it's already unzipped..

    I have identified first as well, tried to rename etc. Pretty much every combo of everything imaginable for about 1 hr last night and about 1.5 hours today.

    Every available anti virus has been removed or disabled.

    Guess I will just wait for Matt.

    would you paste the tacoma_new_instructions file (.pdf format) in a reply? I would like to read them so I can get a handle on the steps/procedures. Maybe they will help identify why so many are having install issues. Thanks

    @OVTune

    I read those.

    ??? is the Flash Manager sent the most current or are recipients having to "update" as referenced on page 1??

    on page 5 it says "plug the dongel in and run pcmflash" - but the instructions are suppose to be for dongel-less install. ???

    Then on page 8 it says after you have run PCM flash to read the ecu id run the same flash again then click the "flash it" button, but refers to using p5flash. ???

    I'm thinking the instructions need some rework, detail and pics for steps not so easypeasy. What happens after page 8? Step off a cliff, hope you land on your feet and the fall is not to great? I think Mat and only those who have successfully done the install (dongel-less) can fill-in the blanks.

    I think that's the direction it is heading, but to some degree I think due to the complexity of tuning a truck engine in 2018 there's only so much to be done. I will say speaking from personal experience and from watching the thread for months as well, most of the challenges in installing the tune are user error. Not all, certainly, but even dumb things like using the wrong USB port, missing a setting on windows defender, or entering the wrong address for shipping (twice... yep), etc. cause people to post here that this is extremely difficult. However after getting through it, once you have it installed it's 100% worth it and you realize that the process really wasn't that bad. I wouldn't let stories like these necessarily turn you off of the product. Also, Matt's customer service is excellent for when you do have problems, just be aware that it may take him a few days to get back to you depending on how busy he is (which seems like "always!").

    I read mine today and it reads with the 04B0300. I have a 2017 TRD off road and i'm assuming it came from the factory with it installed. I still experience some of the hunting for gears, so i don't think a refresh would do anything correct? IMG_0021.jpg
