What are the prons and cons of buying a new engine

    2004 toyota tacoma
    I have a 2004 toyota tacoma. And I am about to buy a new engine to replace the old one. The truck has 47 thousand miles on it. I am just wondering what kind of warranties do you get buying and having an new engine replaced? People tell me to buy a new vehicle, but my 2004 is in good shape other than the bad engine which I would rather pay 7000 grand to replace than buy a new truck.

    You could just get the old one rebuilt. It would prob run you only 2-3grand and would run like new.

    how is your engine in bad shape with only 47,000 miles on it? That is really low for an 04.

    $3000. yes, $7000. = buy a used motor from a wreck or a new truck.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    New engines generally come with a 12K mile/ 1 year warranty. If the block is fine, it would be better to rebuild it.

    Which Leads me to my original question. Do new engines get good warranties, i mean brand new engines, like should i buy a new engine at a toyota dealership or a regular auto shop. I just wanna know the warranties on brand new engines. But now I'll consider getting the engine rebuilt, but I'm planning on a new engine pretty much to start over. I just wanna know warranty stuff if anyone has any knowledge of that.

    I figured a new engine is worth a warranty longer than that, because people tell me a new engine is essentially a brand new truck obviously not all brand new. Can new engines be trusted without any extended warranties?

    I personally think a rebuild is better, if the block is in good shape. You can rebuild it to a better standard than what the new engine would be built to, unless you got it from the factory.
