Anyone have a good/trusted read on how to properly run a bulking and cutting cycle?

Lol, Well, I am fairly happy with my cut so far. Down 22# to 8% BF at 208#. Pretty excited for the change I made!

Which one specifically, because you can't do both to close to eachother or it's pointless. So, what do you want to do first?

Looking for a complete overview of what both are, and how they work. (Obviously I understand the basics of them) Benefits, downsides, and general guidelines or how to's.

I’m not even really cutting anymore. My deadlift was starting to suffer and I didn’t like it. So I decided to stay fat and try to keep my numbers up.

Bulk - run caloric surplus in order to gain weight. A small surplus (250-500 cals) will put weight on more slowly, and typically amounts to less fat gain. Pros: gain weight/muscle, get skrong as hell. Cons: get fat, don’t look as good nekkid

Cut - run a caloric deficit. A small deficit (250-500 cals) will shed the weight slowly, and typically amounts to less muscle loss. Pros: get shredded AF, look good nekkid. Cons: get weak and people will ask if you even lift, bro.

Yup, that's pretty much what my current understanding of it is.

So why do it over just eating healthy and having a good workout regimen? Is it all for the 1-2 months of looking kut AF?

Much easier to put on muscle and a little bit of fat, than trying to solely put on muscle. Consequently you end up with more body fat, and “cut” to lose fat and look leaner.

Some find that bulking and cutting is more effective, others just stick to slightly above their tdee and SLOWLY build muscle.

To build just muscle and no fat, you have to be extremely good at knowing exactly how many calories you need to eat per day based on the various amounts of activity you’ve done throughout the day. Bulking and cutting is a much less exact science and is why most people do it. It’s way easier.

It’s still better to even bulk by eating healthy. Clean bulks are better for you than the typical dirty bulk (eating whatever you want). But dirty bulls are soooo much more fun, and much easier to do. Also much cheaper. Because healthy food is expensive as hell.

Hit my 405 5x5 squats tonight. For sure blew my o ring the last set. Rest times were about 4-5 minutes between sets. Next week is 415 and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be stuck there.

    THIS.

I go on bulk/cut cycles because I like dirty bulking. I punish myself by dieting in the spring, but it gives me an opportunity to YOLO come fall/winter. I tend to like this process the best personally, although admittedly it probably isn't the "healthiest" way to go about it...

Definitely not, and makes the spring cut soooo much worse.

This week was my 5/3/1 week. 435 felt heavy as hell on deads today. It went up, and 2 people told me it looked like it moved fine, but holy shit it felt heavy. 385 felt heavy a couple weeks ago, though, so I guess throwing some carbs back into the diet is helping some. Finished up with 5x3 block pulls at 365 then some farmer carries for cardio.

Ya'll wouldn't be having these petty problems if you were on them aerobics. But ya'll don't wanna hear it. Keep struggling.

For the most part I “clean bulk” but I have a fair amount of cheat days and I’ll throw in a long weekend of eating like shit every once in a while as a reward. It makes cutting easier as opposed to eating like shit for 6mos and trying to undo it all the other 6...

I don’t think chipotle, chick fil a, and McDonald’s count as a clean bulk, Pedro.

When you're 40+, all bulking consists off is looking at food the wrong way.
