    All,

Picked up a new TRD Pro last week... I LOVE IT .. but without the ECT button on... it is almost annoying to drive around town.. you have to keep it shifting to drive around @ 40-50 mph.

Not sure lugging the motor is a good idea for a new vehicle.. am using the ECT power mode almost all of the time.

Has anyone else had a similar experience... it would be great if it was the default setting rather than optional.

I recently purchased a TRD Pro as well and was having the same issue. Installed this within the first 200 miles and it made a world of difference. Much happier with the drivability and performance of the truck.

My 2018 shuffled around the gears till about 5k miles. I swear Toyota did something on the 5k check up but they say they did nothing, as since then all gear shuffling is gone. Acts like it did when I would use ECT but does not hold on to the gears as long. and downshifts when I give a little gas something it would not do very well before 5k. not exactly sure what changed other then just learning how I drive I guess. but I am loving it now without having to put on ECT mode.

What you’re feeling is normal and you will unfortunately get used to it. A lot of us just hit the ect on the second the truck starts up.

If you hold the ECT button down for 5 seconds, it resets as the default. Same thing with the Qi charger, sets it to quick charge mode. :)

Edit: Im joking, please don’t try these at home!

Yea.. my 2003 had a 5 speed stick... maybe I am not so used to the auto.. but still like it... 'cept the "normal mode" seems almost useless. ECT mode works GREAT!

I do like driving with it on- after 5k miles, seems to work really well.

I am accustomed to manuals but getting old and got an auto.It does get better the longer you drive. You can just drop it in sport mode for around town and 35mph driving or 25mph and use it like a manual.Instead of the power button going up hills I just drop it in sport mode and go right up the hill.It takes getting use to and I still am not..
