My Tacoma is my own little bit of personal space, my virtual lifeboat with 4 wheels of freedom. I don’t even like having my fiancé in the truck because she always tries to put her feet on my dash. I wouldn’t even consider using my taco as an Uber vehicle. I’ve seen Uber drivers use rented cars before. Or buy a cheap 4 door sedan like a Honda Civic or a Camry. Good on gas, easy on wear and tear. Cheap. My sister uses her 2007 Camry as an Uber vehicle. I got that car for 300 bucks.

Oldest Uber I ever got picked up in was an '03 Crown Vic with 325K on it, and that was this year!

Feet on dash with an airbag is straight up retarded. Tell her to google what happens if the airbag deploys and her feet are up there if she wants some pictures. When I was younger and there were no airbags we all used to do it, not since though.

And I agree, my truck is my personal space and I don't want strangers in it (not that I could with an access-cab). Reading up on Uber and the others it sounds like most of the drivers are barely making enough to make it worthwhile if at all once you calculate wear and tear, etc.

I always thought Uber should have a truck division. It would be for hauling things not people. People go to yard sales, flea markets, antique stores, home improvement stores, etc. and they find something they want that they can't get home, what are they gonna do?

I wonder if the liability issue is the problem.. what if someone (or you) gets seriously hurt loading or unloading something from your truck?

I'm sure like in any line of work, there would have to be insurance to cover any liabilities. And the cost would get passed on to the customer.

Most idiots don’t even know how to use a ratchet strap. Bailing twine is not the proper means to die down a load in the bed of a moving truck. I don’t see this becoming a thing because of idiots.

Here's something you don't see often...

A 1st Gen Honda Odyssey! Even rarer to see one in this condition. This is a 1998 EX model with just 130K miles on the clock! I had the opportunity to chat with the owner, and that's how I found out how many miles are on it. This Odyssey has some rust on the left rear wheel well, and the factory CD player doesn't always work, but the A/C blows cold and everything else works.

I didn't even think of that. You uber your truck at home depot, idiot customer fails to secure lumber properly in your truck. Lumber flies out and impales someone. I now see why this could never work

I’m sure you have seen idiots not securing loads or the ones that try are looking at the ratchet strap like it’s a piece of alien technology.

I see it a lot in Houston, especially with the jacked up diesel douchebags. It’s like they spent 80k on that sulfer sucker but hey can’t be bothered to buy or use a ratchet strap. I had this one dude buy a dirtbike off me once and he showed up with a brand new powerjoker and he attempted to strap it down in the bed of his truck with bungee cords, I just turned and walked away.

Lol! When I drove my truck off the lot one of the first things I did was gets straps and bungees. It's amazing how many people don't even think about needing to secure a load.

Of the 8 times ive used Uber, 4 of them were retired people, 2 college kids and 2 were doing it as a second job. I think it works well to supplement income but i cant see it being a primary source and getting anywhere. And to answer the original question; i would not use my truck for Uber.
