Life happens. Just buy a tent if the GFC isn’t ready in time and enjoy the vacation just as much.

This is just a thought to strike up conversation, could the DOM tubing be designed differently to be more open?

It could but it would require thicker tubing and would be quite a bit heavier. But the side access really is phenomenal, even with the triangulation. The opening is much bigger than it looks in photos.

Use bees wax, pure solid beeswax. It shouldn't melt in the heat either. I use to use it all the time on my drysuit zippers when I lived in AZ (yes I know, seems odd, but the winter months at Lake Pleasant are damn cold). Anyways the wax never melted or got goopy on the zipper to attract dust.

More open how? Triangles are generally regarded as the strongest shape. So something like verticle tubing wouldn’t be ideal IMHO. I’d guess the Full Size version might be a bit more “spread out”

Rounded corners, like a bed rack. But I understand keeping weight down and bearing the load.

You might be able to get some black conduit that tucks right under the bed rail tracks. Done right it shouldn’t be too noticeable.

I live in central CO and would be more than happy to meetup with anybody who wants to see the GFC in person. I work most days but that’s super flexible and I’m happy to help the TW/GFC community.

I will be doing a show and tell this weekend with @The_Black_Pearl up in Summit County. Anybody who wants to come see a GFC in person is more than welcome to join.

Pm me if you want to setup a show and tell.

#30 and same. Original email from them had it being built in April with the expectation to beat the timeline, so yeah definitely a bit of a disappointment as it'd have been nice to have thus far. But hey like most of the crowdfunded companies seems like the 'business' folks are waaaay off on their expected deliveries - but unlike what seems like most crowdfunded businesses at least folks here are actually getting a product, and a quality one at that!

Anybody have one on blue ribbon metallic yet? Leaning towards the gray but not sure what color will look best.

Does the roof rack use Yakima bars?

Yes, but GFC sells just the mounts for the bars, you’ll need to buy whatever length bar you need.

You sure? When I asked Graeme on the phone he said they are only providing mounts, no bars.

Do you know if there is an option for Thule mounts? I figured it would be a very similar way to attach to the side rails of the GFC and I'm sure there are at least a few of us that have Thule setups already.

If not, are the T-nut (or equivalent) available for the GFC's side rails to make your own?

He said they didn’t want to get into the business of stocking Yakima parts for people who wanted different cross bar lengths. If I remember right it was $140 for a set of mounts (4 mounts to make 2 crossbars).

Looking back at your post/photos, what is the orange line on the rear liftgate? is that to help close the panels? Also, what's the white box at the center near the hinge (light??)?

Also, was the bungie forward of the side windows part of the camper?

Website only mentions gunmetal for the spaceframe. Is orange still an option?

My completion date is leading right into an existing (non-camping) family vacation. I'd really like to drive out to pick it up, but getting $1000 white-glove delivery for free is a difficult-to-ignore part of the decision.

Orange is definitely still an option.
