There is nothing more rewarding than watching them grow up. My 2 are incredible women that I am so very proud of.

If the land is posted and he said that, you should have said "Oh, I was unaware of that. I'm very sorry! Let me just confirm with MA Fish and Game about that..." and started dialing your local game officer. Sounds like this guy is a special kind of stupid.

My wife and I had some struggles when trying for kids. Often family members would ask when we would have kids, I always responded with, we are practicing, you know that makes perfect. Because we worked in a group home with youth at risk, they would always respond with some comment about the group home helping us with parenting skills. Which I responded to with a "Oh ya, that too". Always seemed to confuse folks, but they stopped asking us.

I grew up riding dirt bikes all through the woods and we paid close attention to posted signs. Even riding on lands we had permission to ride on, or public lands, we would still get hassled by people from time to time (we had quiet machines also, so it's not like we were being a nuisance). We had one hunter point his shotgun at us on public lands. We didn't stop to talk to him, we just turn and rode away as fast as we could. Looking back, that guy had some serious issues but we were young and shook it off.
Hell yeah! Don't get me wrong, it's stressful and you will really come to learn how little sleep you can actually survive on, but it's a great experience.

I told him "I understand the sentiment, but it's private property and if I see you again I will call the police" then I started up my mower and rode off into the sun set.... My mower is a standing mower and I probably looked like a total jackass, but I wasn't gonna argue with the guy about him having rights to my property just because he's older than me

Yeah I have a lot of friends who have had miscarriages and other unfortunate issues, you can tell they are getting sick of being asked if someone brings it up. Luckily for most of them they have been able to push through and have kids, but I can see it being stressful when you are actually trying and things just aren't happening.

Yeah I don't plan on ever pointing a gun at a trespasser unless they are trespassing into my house at night, to do that to a few kids is a little extreme. I guess it gets the point across but a simple "Get the hell out of here you kids" probably would have had a similar effect.

p.s. there is actually an older guy in my town who tried to get a new law passed that said you couldn't ride dirt bikes because his neighbors kid got one and he didn't like the noise. It got no support and was quickly shut down.

Do you know the old guy who owned the house I tried to buy? I think he had another house on Loop Rd. Based on the comments we got from his realtor, the way the house was built, the things he had on his land, and the way he handled my offers, I wouldn't be surprised if he was one of the crazies you refer to.

No I really don't know many people up here, lots of nice people, but I think most like to be left alone. Since I only plan on being here for a few years before moving to Hancock I haven't gone out of my way to meet people I wouldn't normally interact with. The only guy I know near that home yells at me for driving too fast, so I had to slow down :turtleride:

When people used to ask if I had kids, I would either reply, "Not that I know of" or "In which state?"
That would usually stop them cold.

I don't really know any of my neighbors either. Dramatically lower taxes in Hancock...less than 1/5 of what they are in Clarksburg, and we're not even that bad compared to some (like Adams and Lanesboro--I'm surprised those towns haven't had a riot against their finance committees)

Here in gun friendly NH we had a guy do that to someone at the end of his driveway and he got sent right to jail. It's called criminal threatening and it was a pretty controversial case because people think you can do anything on your own land. Guess what, you can't. Doesn't matter if your property is posted and someone is trespassing or not, it's illegal to threaten people with a weapon.

Ironically, shooting them is actually less illegal, something of a grey area depending on the circumstances.

Kinda like if someone breaks into your house you should shoot to kill, instead of shoot to just wound and not let get away?!

Down here, you can get pinched for "brandishing" if you flash your gun.

If you're at the point where you feel the need to shoot someone, make it count. I would think it would be pretty easy to get arrested/sued if you purposefully shot someone "to wound".

"well if you didn't think you had to kill him why did you shoot him at all"

Now if you shoot someone and they don't die but they clearly aren't a threat anymore, you could render aid while police/emt are on their way.

Exactly. My instructor said that "if they break in, make sure they drag out" and cited a couple of cases where home invaders had sued the homeowners who shot-to-wound them in states without a Castle Doctrine.
