Jesus, am I planning a Focus meet or a party in the woods meet.

    Just kidding.
We can camp anywhere in the Gorge Area. There it's more than Subaru, Focus, Camry, friendly and mostly flat. However, everyone will have to purchase a camping permit for these. It will be labeled in the middle of this Map where it says "Natural Bride State Resort Park". Its basically useless to post GPS coordinates to it until we get there and record them because tons of people camp throughout these area's, so the exact GPS coordinates may not be available when we get there.

Looks like we had more trucks last year than this year that will be showing up. Which is perfectly fine with me. I love meeting some new people and rigs but sometimes it can cause the group to grow too large for what the intent of the ride is for.

@Red Demon was there last year (Which he got lost the first days) but other than him @tacofort and @2TRunner are the only new ones that have confirmed or are interested in making the trip for now.

Is this a basecamp that we go to each night? Or will we be moving camp each day like nomads.

I know of a badass spot that I think is big enough....but it's at the very south close to Cave Fork Rd and 11. I'm also not sure it's Subaru friendly as it involves a creek crossing on the DBBB. I've only been there on a MTN Bike. So, it may not be best location for a basecamp.

Able to share the coordinates? I've been down there a fair amount on foot, and on a bike and may know the area. You can send via PM if you'd like.

The previous years' camp spot is prime and ideal for this. Very easy to find, and unless it hasn't rained more than an inch, creek crossing to get to it won't wash away your Vespa.

However, we aren't willing to further piss off the local land owners by trespassing.

The other thing with camping in the gorge is that we won't be 'car camping'- it will be park somewhere and hike to a place to set up camp.

If everyone is on board for that, I have a really good spot I've never seen anyone else use that would hold a large group, thats only about a half mile walk from the nearest parking area.

I first met them that Thursday night off of 11/3330 in Zoe at a gas station. Camped somewhere along a short piece of that red trail, which is the Walker School House trail (or something like that) and it's "closed" because nature and the trail is slipping off the ridge.

To get to your proposed starting point on this Microsoft Paint map, meeting people at the gas station in Slade isn't a sounds idea. Nearly 30 minutes driving on pavement just to get there from the start point or the camp.
But this marked camp site is much better for base camp type shenanigans

You'll only be meeting everyone that is there on day 1 at the Slade gas station. The next day, we can meet closer to the camping area marked (close to where we met Matt at after we camped) for the people that are coming in later. This is only about a 6-8 mile drive to town on that majority blacktop/pot hole gravel road I met you all on. That is where base camp can be at.

If the map isn't good enough, you can click the link provided on the OP and zoom and do what you need to. I was just drawing you all a picture for those of you that need a coloring book and pictures for directions. Jesus I'm sounding more like @Bluegrass Taco every day.

Also, I'm not walking at all to set up camp.

If the camp spot in the SE corner is base camp, then it only makes sense to evolve the meeting spot from po-dunk Slade to the gas station closer, where we met Matt.

Is that not what I just posted? lol.... However, a focus isn't going to make It all the way there so that's why I said we could all meet them where we met Matt on day 2 when they arrive (Friday). No sense in going to set up camp on day 1 then working our way back, when we can wheel for most of the day then set up camp on the place marked at the end of day 1. So why not meet off the Slade exit, hit some trails, work our way that way towards camp like marked, then set up camp as posted on the Microsoft paint map that I drew and pick them up the next morning?

    Holy cluster fuck.

Just for clarification I just need to be picked up once and transported to the campsite. No need for me to go back and forth as long as my cooler and gear make it to camp.

    Hey Guys,

So I am still tentative on being able to go but I think I'll be able to make it. One of my co-workers had his CFA test delayed until the week of the trip and is taking that week off so I just have to play it by ear to make sure we don't get a bunch of work that comes due that week. I work on a 3 person team so having 2 of us out is not ideal but it should be a slow time of year for us.

CB is installed but I'm getting crappy SWR readings. I think I just need to grind off the paint where the mount attaches to my front bumpers to get a better ground. Tested the RTT last weekend!

I really like it. A little tough getting it all set up by myself since it's up so high on my truck but it's doable.

What antenna, and mount are you using?

Also, I don't think I've ever seen a front bumper mount.
