OK thats more work than I wanna do. Waiting for my Hikari LEDs to arrive then I will install. I think I'll go with how the VID shows it. Swap the turn signal lamp from OEM and cut off the connector. That way if I wanna go back to OEM I'll just reverse the process.

I'll leave more wire when I cut so IF I have to reverse I'll have enough to work with.

Just got my Hikari LED with Phillips COB chips. 12000lm per set. That should be a little brighter than what I have now.

Time to get to work.... Taco Thursday.:bananadance:

Would love more info on how/what you did so you didn't have to cut wires. I also do not want to cut mine. Can you provide more info and/or photos?

Does anyone know if you can potentially buy this connector as an OEM part? That way I could leave my OEM headlights un-touched just in case I want to sell them or swap back to them.

Cutting the wires is actually harder. Flip the headlight upside down, there’s a 2” circle plug. Twist and remove and you’ll see the connector right there. Pop that out (the rubber grommet just comes right out). Install it on the new headlight and cut off all that junk you don’t need. I’d much rather have this than a harness that was cut.

I was gonna buy some beat up broken OEMs and just take the harness. So far haven’t been able to locate it as an OEM part.

It’s really easy. Once you flip the headlight upside down and open the plug you’ll see that 3 wire pin that disconnects. The grommet even comes out really easy. Problem is the plastic connector doesn’t fit into the Depo light. Need to shave it a little. I’ve had no issues with mine thus far and you’d never even know what was done. Looks oem.

I have not found the part number yet but I am searching for it. May need to go to a dealer to get the actual part number. Might be wise to buy the attached harness. You will still need to solder the new harness but it is better than cutting anything off of the factory headlight and it will be a simple fix. There is probably a Toyota part number on that connector. I too want the option of selling the oem set untouched.
EDIT Actually I will cut mine, write down whatever part numbers I can find on the connector or harness, maybe take pictures, then find what I need after the install. That way I can put the oem back to original condition before I sell them.

I just talked to a dealer. He said we need the 5 digit number from the connector. Then he can see if he can get it and if he can get the harness. I will get the number when my lights arrive and start the install. If someone beats me to it then post that 5 digit number for us to start searching.

That would be awesome. I’ll see if I can pop mine off without too much hassle. Imo that’s the ultimate solution aside from lights without all the added stuff for SR models. Weird that these are cheaper than Depo elsewhere, yet are more complex.

done .... I did the solder thing - was easy I have a soldering station all set up and ready.

Soldered, Shrink wrapped and taped old connector to new headlight.

Only PITA was getting the fender flares off. Broke one tab. The vid says reach in and pinch the tab well 1st there's not a tab that needs to be pinched just push to 1 side. You have to be Japanese size to get arm in there. I'm not a big guy but there's no fucking way to reach those tabs. Just need to go easy when pulling the flares off. After that piece of cake.

I installed a set of Hikari LED heads and high beams while there. The whole setup looks pretty nice. Getting low on chrome tho... all good.

Oh yeah got a question. Anyone find an empty small square plug on the passenger side near the water can?? I found and extra female plug. Cant figure out where its supposed to go. I hate when I have extra pieces....

Cutting and soldering is the easy part. I'll go check my OEM lamp and see if I can find a part number.

Now that I installed it and put the lamps back in the new box. fuck me, boxing and un-boxing was the work.

Fantastic work! Will be awesome if they can get just the plug with wire leads off of it. Keep us updated!

If anyone has the connector in hand they can start searching on the following link. Once we have a sku we can move forward with a search. Note that this company is expensive. We just need a starting point. Note these are 3 pin (cavities) and not sure if we have 2 or 3 cavity plugs. If 2 just change 3 to 2 in the address.

I was planning on cutting the 4 plugs off the resistor plate & using them for a plug n play install until I realized they are 2 pin & not 3 pin  oh well it looks more factory just soldiered & slid the tubing back up over the heat shrink pieces. I did look at buying some waterproof plugs but decided it's not worth it if I have problems with them. Direct connected is the best way.

    Looks great guys!!!

Did anyone follow up on the possible purchase a connector to use? I'd like to sell my original headlights and want to be able to sell a clean set.

OK my headlights installed I have another question.

When turning on the OEM lights - if we turn in just the running lights = 1 click down from headlights, does the OEM orange/yellow turn signal running light turn on or not?? This is for the Tacos with DRLs. Or are just the tail light running lights lit with the DRLs lit up front??

Unfortunately, like a kid at Christmas, as soon as I opened the box I went into full installation mode and never looked at the 5 digit number on the connector. You can pop it off with a tiny flat screwdriver and pull it up to read it if you want. I just advertised mine stating Sport/OffRoad/Limited buyers will need to transfer their existing DRL circle plug and mini harness.
