Part of the reason for that is a lot of first gen guys are getting out of them and moving up to newer vehicles. I guess I’m one of the few who don’t want a newer one :)

I guess North Face can use any photo out there they want without permission.

I think they will be getting a cease and desist letter from his lawyer, but I wish my rigs were cool enough to make a NF tee

If it's not copyrighted with his name on it, and it's on the internet.....it's fair game

Yeah I know the actual law. But it's also illegal to drive a combustion power car on any main Street on Sunday in North Carolina. You don't see anybody prosecuting for it. The point is, if your gonna post a picture on the internet and you dont want people using it, the fact that you didnt take 10 minutes to put a water mark on it isn't gonna look to good in court (if it goes that far)

You cant take a posted photo from the web, call it your own and then use it to market a commercial product. They could have at least asked permission and offered some compensation. They did neither. They will pull the product or offer him some coin.

Me too. I can assure you Doug Thompkins would never have allowed something like that. Us little guys have to keep the greedy hawks in check.

    Yeah.
First one is a great article -- I just read something about this when I went down an internet bunny trail, but it was focused on that Utah case and a much less enjoyable read. I didn't know about the Meramec thing, I lived right up the hill from the river when I was in the STL area.

    Yeah.
The inflatable kayak in the ads down below keeps taunting me. Looks like they have a sit-on K1 version for $100. Based on specs and reviews, the K1 is shorter and doesn't glide as well, but it carries 400lbs as opposed to 250lbs. I know little of kayaking, only been out a couple of times on Town Lake in Austin. Any of you more experienced folks have an opinion? Would it be worth the extra dough to go with the K5? I probably wouldn't use it much, and mainly during the summer.
