Out last night with my Repo pup and some stoves I collect, one, my restored somewhat Coleman model 1 stove, from the 20's. One of my 80 to 100 year old stoves. Optimus 00 and old 45, 8R. Just five miles up the road from my place here in Plumas Co., close to Bucks Lake.

Damn, and I thought that I was old school because I still use a traditional 70's style white fuel Coleman 2-burner stove and lantern instead of some fancy propane unit

I have a few younger stoves, a few only 40 some years old, a few over 100 years old. Have Coleman's first three burner stove too, model 418.

Biggest decision aside from where to camp. Helps to take three or four. Pic is most of my collection.

It's been expensive. Some stoves cost, other times, I just buy too many in a month. Credit card bill some months would make a few expensive vehicle payments. Luckily I have no mortgage or car/motorcycle payments. Been collecting eight years or so, lanterns maybe five years.

i'm surprised i don't see a borde benzinbrenner, some center draft rayo lamps, an aladdin blue flame heaters, or some smudge pots.

I actually was kind of surprised at the dearth of Aladdin lamps. I have a couple and they're awesome, but they really aren't what I'd call portable.

yeah, the center drafts were really more for area lighting. I mean, the design is practically identical to a kerosene heater with the round wick. they just got lucky when someone figured out that heating up thorium dioxide made a super bright light in the late 1800s. i mean they're what, comparable to a 75-100w bulb? and then when you use a pressurized kerosene/white gas petromax style you get 300watts?

I'd say probably closer to 60-75watt, yeah. 3 of them do a good job of lighting the living room/kitchen when we lose power at the house. Not as much output as the pressurized dual-mantle coleman, but a hell of a lot quieter.

The "Bomb" is between the "Baby" and 99. I have a Perfection heater I repainted over the winter, along with a few other stoves like my 1. Just picked up my first lamp a few weeks ago.

So now the important question: Is the dog in the pictures from the first post the same dog as in the $10-in-colored-ink printout in the second post?

Photo of the pup last year out cutting firewood, same pup. I had sent some pics to a couple ladies I worked with a year ago. They printed some photos out for a album they gave me in September when I was recovered from a head injury. Two weeks in a rehab place. Nice of some of my former coworkers to come visit.
