Damn, just backed into a pole - rear bumper p/n?

For some strange reason I could not find the rear bumper in my Toyota parts manual. Then I went to the accessory section and there was a chrome rear bumper complete assembly, p/n 00228-35981-13. But all I need is the chrome horizontal piece, not the black plastic piece or brackets, etc. Anyone have the OEM p/n for just the chrome piece?

Yeah, I checked with my go-to parts dealer (Toyota Parts Barn) and they come up with the complete assembly p/n. $438 plus $85 shipping. Will check with Camel Back.

 

If your anywhere near central NC I have one sitting in my yard you can have.

 

Or maybe ebay. Might be cheaper or atleast they usally have a diagram with part numbers on some parts

 

As much as I like OEM parts I just couldn't be bothered buying an OEM one. Buy the aftermarket one on Amazon and swap the step pads. You'll save a shit load of money and the Toyota one wasn't that great to start with.

I've been backed into multiple times. I need to get to Amazon. But I like my Toyota step pads. The oem is just too pricey for what it is. Beside, the way they drive around here it'll get dinked soon enough.

 

I'd love to sell you mine so I can put the money toward a CBI lol, (wife would love that). I have some scrapes on it from Moab a few years ago, which is ironically how I figured out I need a rear bumper way more than a front. I never scraped my front and I did some pretty hard trails.

 

For the price of a GTP one can buy 3 rear bumpers. They come with the same backing as the OEM, plus license plate lamps and hardware, plus the black rubber top piece. I bought one a couple of years ago, took me about an hour to remove the old bumper and install the new one. So far no dings. The only difference that I can see is the black rubber part is blank i.e. it's missing the Toyota stamp and the weight warning.

Alas, I suppose that sooner or later I'll back into another post or tree...

 

I bought an aftermarket bumper on Amazon and 3 years out I am still super happy with it. Almost identical to OEM but way cheaper. Its a good quality bumper:
