yeah if you have EGR then you cant run the 7th, because the 7th injector plugs into the EGR port. I don't think you have EGR though being a 2004 but should check anyway.

and yeah, it's not CA street legal because URD hasn't gotten any of their stuff CARB certified....takes big $$$$$$ to get that. Took Magnuson forever even though TRD offered the same blower with a CARB cert, because they dished out the dough for it. You could run the same blower from Magnuson and not pass smog visual even though there's no mechanical difference. All about that CARB sticker. Was the first thing the smog tech checked when he opened my hood and saw the TRD blower. Same with my TRD headers.

I managed to pass smog with my 7th injector last year...smog tech didn't say anything about it. I was pretty worried too, thought for sure I would get dinged for it. I wrapped the steel braided line in electrical tape for it though so it wasn't so glaringly obvious in the engine bay, and looked more like the other vacuum lines in there...maybe that helped.

Make sure you press them in just past the metal lip or they will leak again, ask me how I know...

Yeah i dont have egr. I wonder if the 7th looks ok enough where smog guys wont trip. But Because the 6 injector kit has alot more changed out they might actually care

I thought the 6 injectors would be less obvious...maybe I'm wrong though. The 7th is definitely obvious if you know what the engine bay should look like without it in there, but luckily I think most smog guys aren't super familiar with supercharged 5VZEs so they don't question it. They see the CARB sticker for the supercharger and they're usually happy and move on.

That might be the thing though they see it on the sc and the sc carb number so they think its one kit. Vs running 6 big injectors, but it woulf be harder to see whats going on the the 6 injector kit

True. Worst case scenario you just go to another smog shop, they're a dime a dozen in CA and there are plenty that are less "strict" than others, so I hear. Might have to bring some extra cash with you or a case of Coors lol.

The 7th also sprays fuel on the rotor pack so it acts a tiny bit like an evaporative cooler as well.

I mean the 7th kit would be easier to “remove” if needed to pass smog vs the 6 injector kit

true, I remember that being in the kit's description on URD's site. Methanol does a much better job of that though, right? And isn't there some debate over whether or not the 7th injector spraying fuel into the rotor pack causes damage to the rotors over time?

Much better for sure, way higher volume of liquid. Either one will take the teflon coating off the rotors. But the meth is acting like a constant steam cleaner and seals the rotors to the housing better anyway so it is sort of a moot point.

yeah I was looking into that before my smog test but luckily it didn't come to that. I'm not sure if you could just "unplug it" or not though, since the piggyback would still be there and might cause some issues...I never got a good answer on that when I asked about it awhile ago but luckily it didn't matter in the end.

was gonna say, here's a link to the 6 larger injectors I saw for sale yesterday but looks like it sold already...that was quick. Was a really good deal though assuming everything's there, even comes with gauges. Screen Shot 2018-05-31 at 3.03.45 PM.jpg
