That’s good. Lately everyone has been cerakoting their shock bodies. I don’t see it holding up that well. I had a bunch of guns cerokoted and after a few events they all showed a pretty decent amount of wear. Seems like a few trips to the dez and the shocks would look like shit.

Steel It on threads !? I can see using it on non threaded bodies and parts but Steel It is 3 mils of primer and 3 mils of coating, how the fak is 6 mils of material going to work on threads ? The first time you spin that collar it is going to gouge it all off ? Also, Steel it is only intended for temps up to 200 degrees...extended driving over wash board roads and your shocks hit 300 degrees easy right ?

Ehh, it might peak out at 300 but it shouldn't stay there for too long.

Ive never had King bumps but that seems like a lot to add to a bump body and still fit in the can

These are all brand new shocks cylinders I just picked up from king and took to OC custom coatings to get cerakoted

There are multiple types but the kind you want if you want it to last against abrasion and chemicals is baked on, all non baked cerakote eventually wears down. But the baked stuff on all my rifles and on these last for freaking ever even after heavy abuse.

These were not done by Kevin, his price was a bit too high in my opinion.

This color is called destroyer grey and it matches the wrap on my truck

How much did you pay? He quoted me 400$ for front coilovers and bypasses and bumps

Baked cerakote will hold up exceptionally well in sand/salt/and rocks

The non baked will wear just like powdercoat

He quoted me 500$ for all 4 front shocks for the coating
But he also wants 500$ for the tear down and rebuild regardless of how new your shocks are or how new they have been serviced

So 1k for 4 shocks was a tad bit much.

    But...
OC custom coatings did an excellent job coating them
I dropped them off on Wednesday last week
    And had them back yesterday.

They obviously don’t do disassembly so you’ll have to take them the shocks like I did.
But they guarantee their work and reference their quality by it surviving 356 hours in a corrosion testing bath

    Not bad.

I wanna take mine apart like you did and send them the cyclinders I might call him and seee how much it’ll be. I don’t want the shocks serviced cause I can do that

Looks good though! I’m thinking I’ll do a glossy white to mix it up

It is steep for sure but he is correct that it does catalyze harder than regular powder coat. Cerakote is a two stage process liquid sprayed and then baked. It is what King uses if you order black bodies or resi’s per DSM.

I see a coupe of big problems here, someone stole your steering wheel and I think that metal passenger airbag protector you built was creative but might hurt a bit :rimshot:
