Nice Transitions! Been thinking about trying out a Patrol, currently riding a 2016 Smuggler. And I see your avatar is at Bachelor, opening weekend for bikes was last weekend. Only mountain I know of that overlaps skiing and biking, even if was for only a few days.

you know your mountains! I need to ride bachelor again, that was from my first ride on the Patrol when I picked it up late summer of 2016. Ski bowl opened as well, will be there next weekend in preparation for coast gravity park and whistler extravaganza mid June.

First ride in WA. Galbraith. Test rode an Ibis mojo 3. Can't decide if I need more travel or not and buy the hd4. I am also looking at yeti sb5 and sb5+. Anyone have any advice in regards to the best suspension range for the PNW trails? 20180525_120013_1527359780180.jpg

I've been wanting to get up to galbraith for a weekend shred sesh but haven't had the time, i'm jealous! you can't go wrong with either of the bikes you're looking at. personally i'd select the yeti SB5, i'm not sold on the + sizing yet... similar to how I feel about 29r.

Guys!! quick sorta related question... To go tubeless or not to go tubeless?? Is the cost vs weight savings worth it??

Idaho trails are starting to heat up and I'm looking to upgrade my Giant a bit!

    THANKS!

Go tubeless and never look back. Much better ride all the way around. I have Maxxis DHF & DHR and have never burped or had a problem. We have some nasty rocky and root section in WNC and it holds up great!

Most new bikes are Tubeless ready so the cost is really just a bottle of sealant and valves(if you lost the ones that came with the owners packet). Not sure I would go out and buy a brand new wheel set just to go tubeless though. IMO go tubeless if your bike is tubeless ready or wait if the cost is greater $100. I have always been a believer of loosing weight on your body before loosing weight on your bike. Unless you are racing for a living you probably won't notice grams. So if you go tubeless do it for the ability to ride with lower pressures (just don't go so low that instead of snake bites you are now trashing your rim). There is no noticeable weight difference to the average non professional rider.

If you have an empty bed a bike will fit 'caddy corner' if that makes sense. Rear wheel on driver side/front wheel on passenger side and vice versa. Turn the bars and it will lay flat in the bed

Otherwise an external rack/tailgate pad is the way to go.
