New here, but saw this. Last summer I accidentally left my key to my wife's 2015 4 runner in my pocket. Surfing in salt water for an hour. I feared that the worst but it still works today. Go figure

Ironically after posting to this thread I washed and dried my key fob. Never has happened before. Most of these say washing but I hope mine works after drying it as well I’m the dryer. Derp

Wow that's impressive!!! I got the key & tires warranty package thrown in cuz the wife wanted me to. I think I get free remotes for 7 years no matter what but it still doesn't help me if I'm in the middle of know where!

Maybe you can switch to the proximity card thing . Then the proximity would be in your wallet and less likely to get washed?

It does have a cool factor, I suppose .

Some on here did it, see passenger door handle swap thread .

Well it worked this morning to unlock my truck although I had the spare about 15ft away because I live in a parking garage and didn't want to go back to my apt if it didn't work. I imagine I needn't worry though.

These pry are subject to a humidity/temp test although however minor the circuitry maybe. I test things at 65c(150f) at work so unless the dryer is getting hotter then that which I don't think it does these are pretty durable.

Went camping this past weekend and took both remotes. Gave one to my co traveler and we were forever wondering who had one. But if the car started we knew it was in the car somewhere. The keyless entry is awesome but didn't think keeping track of the remote would be such a pain.

You literally never know where the key is when there is two driver's. Kind of frustrating.

I posted this before, but one time I was driving my wife's car, she had the key in her purse. There was a thunderstorm and it was raining like crazy. I pulled up to the grocery store to let her out and I was going to go park. Once it started beeping I realized she had the key with her. Like an idiot I had to chase her into the store, she was really far in the store, lol. Cars all backed up as I sit in the fire lane. I wonder how much convenience these keys really are.

Wife sent my Sony vita through a was cycle once. I pulled the battery and replaced. Let in a bag of rice for a week. Still works, had a few dead pixels though

To the OP and others, how do you manage to forget your keys are in your pocket? I’ve had a car with a smart key, but I kept the fob attached to my house keys, so they came out of my pocket when I get home and go right on the hook by the door.

I don't have a house key. I open my garage, then walk in my unlocked house. Sometimes my key gets set on the counter, sometimes I'm distracted and it stays in the pocket.

In my case I had two because of a trip and left one in a jacket when I was moving stuff into my apt I didn't check when i washed it.

I also use to keep the FOB on my house keys but sometimes separate them(its on a carabiner) for when I go biking etc and put the FOB in my backpack. I really got the smart key for this reason to put it in a backpack but be able to open my car without having to search for it. But you still need it out to lock the car. Since I don't really need to take it out to start the car sometimes they are kept separate. This was my first occurrence ever but that was because I was dealing with two FOB's instead of one, the other is typically in my jeans pocket 95% of the time(which I wash maybe once a month, I know....).

I've put mine through the front loader twice so far. Keyless entry remote. Worked as soon as I found it in the machine. Didn't do anything special to dry it out.
