I've had a little Absolut right now so this is just a feeler. Who's into precision riflry? I have a Remington 700 PSS short action with a 2oz Jewel trigger and custom 28" Stainless Shillen Heavy IBS profile barrel with a target crown and custom chambered for 6.5mm BR. This is a wildcat round custom selected for Benchrest for Score competition. You can't buy ammo for it over the counter. You have to custom form it from 6mm BR or 7mm BR. All modified Redding handloading dies included. The rifle has a Leopold LCS 40x scope with an 1/8th MOA target dot reticle on it, a single shot floor plate, and an HS Precision flat bottom forestock synthetic stock. I haven't put that many rounds through it, but the best load I've developed shoots consistently under .35" 5 shot groups @ 100 yds. I believe it's capable of better.

I'll let it go for $2500 if anyone is interested.




And I'll hate myself for it until I regear the OGT, then I might not feel so bad, haha.

I should also add that it can easily be rechambered for .260 Rem if wildcat rounds aren't your gig.

Thats a prestige rifle for sure.I have never heard of a 6.5BR.I have heard of a 6.5 creedmor a 6.8 spc. I bet this is apretty bad ass round. Lee what grain bullet do you use. Ill ask a guy a work That is into long range rifles.

I've found 107 gr Sierra MatchKings gives the tightest groups at 100 yards. They have Sierra MatchKings up to 140 gr VLDs which is what I was hoping to use, but it likes what it likes so what can you do? As far as the round goes...it's really not impressively powerful or anything. The BR (BR stands for BenchRest) family is based of a shortened .308 Win case, but it's fallen out of favor with the benchrest crowd in favor of the 6mm PPC which is based on a shortened 7.62x39 Russian case. The point being, it's a tack driver, but it's relatively slow (my best load, according to the load data, not a chrono or anything is supposed to produce about 2700 fps) so it probably wouldn't perform really well over 200 yards or so. But again, it could easily be rechambered for .260 Rem and get the speeds up flatter shooting trajectories for longer ranges. That might be what it takes to get those 140 gr VLDs to start performing better.

6.5mm BR was developed at one point from the 6mm BR for silhouette competitions, being a heavier bullet than a 6mm for knocking down steel silhouettes, but it never really caught on, so while data and chamber reamers for it do exist, it's still very much a wildcat custom cartridge.

Interesting fun fact. I was wondering how close to a grain it was to my .270. I'll ask some people and try and to find a buyer so you can give the ogt some love and possibly paint your door handle.

I love my rem 783 in .308. I can bring someone to the range and have them shoot a decent group at 100 yards very quickly even if they've never shot a rifle before. What's also nice is I can use surplus ammo because 7.62x51 nato.

 

Might be willing to trade my 2018 Quicksand Sport hood for a non-scooped quicksand hood plus cash. There are zero scratches or imperfections on mine, with 1600 miles and I would be expecting the same. Seems like the going rate is $500 plus hood for most colors and higher on quicksand/inferno, DM me an offer if anyone is interested.
