Tendency of most contractors is to over promise and under deliver. They usually plan time around best case scenario results in order to keep schedules full. My years as a carpenter taught me to plan for "contigency time" to cover for lost time when material was late or subs slacked off..... Never promiseyou'll be there and do a no show. Bad karma is tough to overcome.

Spent 20 years working in the boiler and engine room of steam plants on ships, usually in the tropics. 120° in the "shade" there was no shade LOL. Had 6 heat strokes and passed out more than 20 times of heat exhaustion. Your know your alive when you wake up in a stainless steel cattle tub filled with ice water and a thermometer sticking out of every orifice of your body. And half a dozen corpsmen pushing you back in screaming about your body core temperature is over 108. Would take off our boots and dump the sweat out of them before leaving the pit.

When my second son was born the Ex let me know we were eligible for food stamps. Never took them I had a job, didn't need no damn food stamps. Knew I didn't want to do what I was doing after I retired so finished a couple of degrees on my own time and dime, only had to work 12 hours on Sundays and holiday routines or rootie tootie. Took me almost 20 years but did finish a couple of them.

So when some young kid making 60k a year that mommie and daddy paid for his degree comes up to me and starts to bitch in an air conditioned office how bad he has it I just stare at them. Then say sorry your pussy hurts and walks away before I say something I shouldn't. But according to HR saying your pussy hurts is not an appropriate response. About the best I can come up with though.

I'll give him 1. I add a lot of time into my projects for contingencies. I know a lot of guys who just cannot say no to a job and end up over booking, so I can understand. But I need to get this done and he'll have to understand that too. I didn't schedule anymore time off till I get a good answer from him or get another one lined up. I may just get him lined up for Friday to give him time to get other jobs out of the way.

Contractors @ here will blow off individual customers as they give preference to apartments and town houses. my son had defective ac compressor in new house and he kept givin him excuses. so Dewayne called him and told him the Damn thing will be in by Monday and workin. he came 15 minutes later. and told my kid it would at least Wed. go figure. he felt good about himself when done and i handed him a list of other defects that would be fixed unless he wants a tax audit on those guys that dont speak english. my wife is business liscense superv. of our county and said it may take her awhile being busy and all!!!
