No we are contracted with Apple to destroy them after end of life. It's been end of life for over a year and we got a nasty gram about using them still. One of the million reasons why I hate Apple in all of its entirety.

I've tried everything I can to get them not to destroy and waste hardware, but nope. I've seen them destroy tons of Apple stuff due to 'end of life'. Which is bullshit because I have a Mac Mini G3 that's still being used as one of my FTP servers. Thing is maybe 15 years old and still works great, just slow.

The schools don't want them. They are too out of date to properly supported them. Even if the school did a give away for families to take home, they still have to provide some level of support. There are a ton of apps that no longer work on that iOS (9.3.5). Especially not the educational apps the schools are using. I use to work in a school district IT department, the majority of donated computer stuff was redonated by us to iCan or some other program like that. The amount of man hours and software licenses required was not worth setting up old stuff verses buying/leasing new computer and tablets.

They are good for basic web surfing, email checking, or some media playback. SO really, donate them to an old folks home, they can see emails of the grandkids and play online poker.

Now the computers and servers in that closet.... I would buy them.

If I could get my hands on them maybe we can. They are in the hands of whoever is going to dispose of them now.
