Does anyone have an idea how long it takes between a truck "Entering Production" and shipment/delivery of said truck? My TRDOR DCSB went into production on the 30th so I checked in with the dealer this morning. Sounds like it's still technically in production, but status has been changed from "Allocated" to "Freight". Not sure what that means but an initial estimate of mid-June is now end-of-June according to the dealer.

Does anyone have experience with these timelines? The wait is killing me :frusty:

There's no way to answer this because of how Toyota's "just in time" manufacturing works. They time the assembly line around configurations. One day they'll build nothing but access cabs, the next two days might be DCSBs, then TRDs, and finally a day of DCLBs. It's based on parts scheduling and the # of a particular configuration they're making.

I requested a particular build, and it was approved (dealership modified one of their allotted vehicles and Toyota approved it). From there it entered the scheduling system. For my particular configuration (DCLB TRD Sport w/tech) it was a 4 month wait to fit it into the line because of the % of DCLBs like that they were making in relation to the total Tacoma line.

Then there's the shipment to the port, the port-installed options (I insisted on none), and then finally delivery to the dealership.

It's a ton of variables, and they're awfully hard to pin down.

I think mine was about 3 weeks from the time it started build until it arrived at the dealer.

Takes about 2 weeks for a double cab OR. Just depending on where your located in the US and if the taco is built in Mexico or TX. Mexican tacos are slower to make it into US for sale and delivery

Thanks everyone. I'm in San Diego and have no idea whether its coming from Tex or Mex.

I guess I'll have to keep bugging the dealership until they have a ship date!

Toyota calls it that even if they're just going to their regional distributors for prep.

The TJ Tacoma plant is pretty backed up, it took my OR almost a month from the built date until it showed up. It was just sitting on the lot waiting for it's turn to ship, but once shipped you're looking at only a couple of days. Worth it though, got mine on Thursday and couldn't be happier.

My Pro took four weeks from build to delivery. There were a couple of delays that ended up pushing it back a few days. It was built in Texas and delivered to Columbus, OH.

Sounds like I should figure out where it's being made. The worst part of waiting is that the list of things I want to buy for it is getting longer by the day!

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I had absolutely NO port installed options, and the truck still sat on a big lot in KC MO area for 2-3 weeks before being delivered to the dealer in Central Mo.
I think it had to do with - "we'll ship it when we get a truck transport load to your vicinity".
7-8 weeks total from the time the dealer put in the order.

Another Toyota we ordered took something like 8-10 days to get to north county after it was built, and it was coming from the middle of the country.
So if you’re truck was built in the Plant by otay, you can assume that time frame or maybe a bit sooner.

Or maybe it takes longer because it has to cross the border, but if so shouldn’t be much longer
