So there I was, about to change the oil. Neighborhood kid who’s always asking about trucks rides up on his bike, asks me what I’m doing. Tell him going to change the oils asks me to show him how.
<zach Morris time-out> now this kid is a good kid, but dad doesn’t know much about vehicles, so kid is always asking me. Kid is about 15, figured I’d do him a solid and run him through it. </time-out>
So I take him though it real fast. It’s easy stuff. Get him adding the oil. 3 qts in, he’s like “hey Rob, this plastic ribs fell in”.

    Wtf? What plastic ring?

“The seal ring for the lid. It fell into the funnel (fat funnel, not a skinny one), and the. I saw it go in the hole.”

Sweating bullets. Get iPhone flashlight can’t see shit in the hole. Go find a real flashlight, find a step stool to stand on (very @MaverickTRD-ish). Look again, can’t find shit. Figure I have to pull the oil pan. Fuck, gotta pull skids. Get the light and look again, can’t see it

    Fuckkkkkkk.

    Kid is sweating. Bullets.

Tell him to go get me a beer and let’s take a break so I can think it through.

    Drink beer.

“You sure it went in there, and didn’t fall into engine compartment??”

“Yeah, it went with the flow of the oil”

Grab the funnel to throw it.

    See ring inside the funnel.

    Thanks jackass!

Rob, you're a good dude man.that kid just learned 100x what either of you thought he would, and he will never ever make that mistake again.

Would have been a valve cover pull worst case.

Have the gear ready to do a evening/night hike at S. Mtn. For some reason all motivation has left. A burger from Wilderness brewery sounds like a better plan!

Will do. I think once done with this if I could get some pieces were I have a longer bead I would get a better sense of moving it. Plus this table I am using to build on in the shop is like 48 inches. That is almost as tall as me, lol. It is a pain right now. #shortlife
