A group of us went last Saturday. I was in the back of the line at the time...when a guy started chasing me on his golf cart. He has a great dane that's as big as a freakin' clydsdale horse.

Could be....wasn't paying attention to road names. The guy has 2 old road tractors parked almost blocking the road.

Does the county not have a map to know what roads they own And are supposed to maintain in the area?

Are there legitimate campgrounds? Less risk of asshole locals or black bears maybe?

There's another property owner along the Pumkin Hollow route that "tolerates" vehicles until and unless they get the slightest bit off the actual roadway. In his defense, there has been a couple incidents where people have done donuts in his "lawn". (Weeds and overgrown grass). He gave us a big dose of the stink eye as we drove through last Saturday.

Also, most of the groups involved with legalities of the DBBB are voluntarily withdrawing the portion of the DBBB that runs through the Hinkle Paving rock quarry. I understand that to have happened after an ATV had a collision with one of Hinkles offroad dump trucks. Latest maps of the DBBB show a bypass on paved roads that avoids the quarry. That bypass took about 10 minutes on some pretty scenic roads.

It's in everyone's best interest to cooperate with the locals. Projecting a cooperative, responsible image helps those fighting for the rights of trail users.

Finally... most of the groups that regularly frequent DBBB use "Callies campground" (near Campton) as a meeting point and campground. (Google maps shows it) They seem to tolerate partying more than some of the other public camps.

Golf cart guy was packing a gun...
Shot gun...plainly visable. Holding it up in plain sight. Obviously done to provoke a response...Our response was to ignore him and keep going rather than conduct a public display of ignorance. Made him irrelevant.

Our "guide" for the day, who is one of the "front and center" folks involved with the political end oF DBBB told us to "keep moving" and that the guy on the cart was always looking to start a confrontation. I'm smart enough to realize that WITHOUT being told. The old thing about "arguing with an idiot"....not something I usually look to do. (Will pass along the name of "our guide" via Pm if you'd like....you know him. Not playing name dropper here)

This guy has pointed guns at people....argued with law enforcement, blocked public access road, and continued to push people into confrontations that he intends to use to his advantage. Why would anyone want to be the NEXT news story. We just kept going....and stayed legal. Not playing into his game. It would be idiotic to do that on purpose... I won't be the person who gives this clown the ammo he needs to shut down the trail. Leaving this one up to the l.e.o. in the area.

I'm sure there's a "next moron" along soon to argue with this moron.

Stanton....Campton....I get the 2 bass ackwards... at any rate, Google map (among others) will take you right to it. Off roader friendly camp. Started and finished there last Saturday. 3rd time there. Stayed there overnight last December. Good place to meet other like minded people.
