Deer steaks on the grill, the burnt spots are silver skin and/or bone. Not the best looking steaks, I had this deer cut up for me, we usually do it ourselves. I prefer to bone out the hams and shoulders.

I suggest when you burn in your grill, leave the grates and grease tray out. Watch the fire box. It does more than just smolder. At least on my GMG, it's FIRE!!!! :) And shut it down to put in the grates and grease tray.... or put on welding gloves. ;)

I will be taking lots of pics and learning as I go. Is it full on flame at low temps or high or both? Was under the impression it was more so at the higher temps >300

FedEx just dropped off a package. Time to burn in and season the new grillgrates. They have a ways to go to catch up with the old ones for the Jumbo Joe.

After putting them together and in place they already seem worth it. Another one of those things should have done a long time ago.

20180601_141321.jpgNewest craigslist addition to the outdoor cooking family. Mostly for reverse searing and finishing wings off the smoker. Probably overkill but deal was too good to pass up. 1 hour of elbow grease and it came out pretty nice. Now I need to buy a set of those cooking grates for it!

Do they lay on top of existing grates or go in separately?

    Nice!

I’m definitely going for a used genesis once I burn up my weber Q (although that probably won’t happen, I’ll probably die before it does)

Most of the time you can't tell the difference of what comes off mine or my buddies, I am pellets and he is sticks. I run it at the lower smoking temps for while before I dial up the heat. The new Traeger actually has a mode specifically to produce more smoke. All in all the food that comes off mine is darn good if I don't say.

I got the replacement ones and they fit perfectly. You can get smaller sizes and lay them on top of your existing grates if you want. But what I've noticed already is that by using the replacement ones it somewhat restricts the heat rising and helps increase the temps on the grates, and seems to be consistent across them. Just hope I have enough gas left to cook the chicken tonight that is marinating right now!

I'm not that old and I always knew most weren't worth it. I have a couple of really close friends. I've always thought this quote summed it up.

“When you're in jail, a good friend will be trying to bail you out. A best friend will be in the cell next to you saying, 'Damn, that was fun'.”

Help! What’s this worth used, as in, how much would you pay for it? A guy I work with has it and wants to sell it.
    Edit: he’s asking $100

Controller regulates the feed of pellets and the fan speed. The fan pulses when up to temp. On my grill, that's all I have. It's a year old now, so I'm a X pert! :)
