I just did my Taco last weekend with the Noico material from Amazon. Easy to do, and I used nearly a full box of 36 sq ft on the four doors, doubling up where the speaker goes. Much quieter on the highway now and only cost $60 from amazon + $10 for a roller.

 

I got the 18 sqft on ebay. Cost $45 cad

 

Tips on removing door panels NOT in the vids:

Trim pcs - each door has a plastic trim piece. Front doors behind the exterior rear view mirror and rear doors up by the window rear of door.

These trim pcs have little white retaining clips. You pop off the trim piece, the clips stay on the door. You must remove them carefully and I mean carefully pinch the white clips and they come off the door. Re-attach them to the trim pcs BEFORE re-install.

Removing the door panels:

remove the screws etc. When pulling the panel off
Fronts pull from the lower rear corner
Rears pull from the lower front corner

Other than that pretty easy. These 2 tips your door panels come off in 5 minutes tops.

You try and put the trim pcs back and leave the clips in the door, your clips will either break apart AND/OR fall into the door where you will no longer be able to find them.

After removing door panels check for clips left in the door - sometimes a few are still in the door - remove and attach to panel before re-install.

 

I made the mistake of not removing those tiny white clips the 1st time, they fell inside the door when I was reinstalling the door panel.

 

In addition to the doors I would highly recommend doing the back wall of the cab around the two vents, a lot of noise comes in from that area. Probably also a good idea to pick up a bag of panel clips before doing any work, they have a tendency to break easily. There's a lot of photos in the audio forum showing sound deadening material installed.

 

I did exactly that. Just bought assortment of Toyota/Lexus clips. The back does make a big difference. I did dynamat extreme and dynaliner and entire floor just dynamat. Will only do roof if I pull liner. Half of roof is sunroof anyway...

 

I was just curious to see if you inspected your mat very carefully for listening devices. After all, it was made in Russia. jk.

That is one of the reasons that I went with Dynamat since it is made in America. I know it costs more but I was willing to pay for American quality and helping to keep jobs in America. I ended up with 91 square feet of Dynamat, Dynapad etc along with 56 square feet of CCF (closed cell foam) on top of certain parts of mat. It turned out to be one of my favorite of my 15 mods so far.

 

My dynamat came a week in the mail after I did my speaker upgrade so it’s just been sitting in the box for 4months. Is it a major difference befor and after?

 

Depending on what and how much you are doing it's a big difference IMO.

 

Ya my noico from russia comes a week after i get my speakers. Gonna be a long week. Might have to get more to do the rear and also remove the storage cubbies

 

@zinger is right about the back cab wall. I think that is where most of the cabin noise comes from.

Noico inatalled on front driver door. I used 4.5 sqft but 7-8 for complete coverage including speaker opening

 

Thank you for saving me $42! Was looking at Dynamat on Crutchfield but this post changed my mind.

 

Happen to know the part numbers for the door clips (retainers?) and back cab panel?

And I bought this kit which is now unavailable but similar ones show up. I used some of the green I believe on the rear but can't remember for sure?

Figured I'd need some of the other fasteners someday.

 

Many thanx! Now to pull those access doors off to sound proof a bit then tackle the back section - cause I will loose/break some of those pieces. I am torn in pulling out that back panel and replace with a molle, swapping out the existing back panel with a utility version (ought to buy back a few inches of space), or just live with the existing panel and opt for a Goose Gear mod??? So many options.

Anytime, you will notice the most difference in doors and rear panel. I ended up pulling entire interior and doing everything. Lot a work but floor is already slightly insulated. Roof is good but now wind noise comes through sunroof glass.

 

So everyone is happy with the Noico? Wasn’t sure on the quality difference

 

I haven't used it but from what I've read the difference seems minimal if any. Noico seems to get good reviews on here. I already had most of my dynamat extreme on hand so purchased matching dynaliner to go over it.
