Prepped for what promises to be some strange times

There is a massive amount of "stuff" going on in my life at current. As such, I have been doing a massive amount of consolidation and preperation for a needed ability to be able to follow whatever path ends up presenting itself pretty much on a moments notice. As part of this, I purchased a 32 foot motor home this afternoon. It is a 1995 Tiffen Allegro Bay on a GM chassis. Engine is the 454 c.i. V8 and whatever heavy duty 4 speed automatic tranny they tend to bolt to the back of that engine for motor home duty. The coach has 41k miles on it, and I managed to get it just under $14k. I would have liked to get it down more, but people were lining up on this one, so the advantage was theirs. Sub $20k motorhomes are currently selling almost as quickly as they are parked on the lots, so waiting for a "better" deal wasn't going to happen. It does have a braking problem which will be fixed before I take delivery of it next week. I will be putting my house on the market next month, and this will be my "abode" until everything settles down, and I can say that where ever I land will be a permanent spot. So, enough with the rambling, here are some pics of the beast:

















































There are a few things that I would like to do, and they will be addressed in the order of need and importance compared to what occurs over the next couple of months. If I am relocated but employed, then the TV's will be replaced with proper HD units, and a self aiming satellite TV system will be installed. I also want to install a tachometer in the huge empty spot on the dash above the dash HVAC controls. They are currently stuck on defrost due to a vacuum leak, so I'll have to dink around behind the dash anyway. The obsolete tape deck radio will also be tossed in favor of one that takes SD cards and thumb drives. If I end up unemployed, then I'll simply use converter boxes on the TV's for the time being, and address the tach dash HVAC controls and stereo.

 

i would have to say that you did really good one the price. Seems as if she isnt even broken in yet.

 

Yeah, this one seems to be much better cared for than the last one I owned. I'm STILL paying for the problems that it had.

 

Sounds like a pretty good deal. Looks hardly used.

Might I suggest one thing though. For the tach, do it on the left side. That way it leaves room for gps in the center if you decide to do that later, or maybe even a double din head unit with gps built in.

 

I'll have to look into the left side idea. I'll have to see how much space the running light switch takes up behind the dash. IIRC, they were pretty big behind the dash plate in the POS 94 C1500 that I owned years ago.

If I put a permanently mounted GPS in the dash, Magellan has an awesome 7" screen model for under $200 at Costco.
