So, between 2015 and 2016 the actual A-pillar is the same part number (61014-04020). Which tells me that the drivers side grip handle (74640-04010) and a-pillar (62212-04100) will fit from a 2015 on the 3rd gen trucks.

I really don't know unless I actually try it.

Good deal, I could swear they were different but you may be correct.

Gas doors are same part number on 2nd gen long bed and short bed. Ask @mesojdm about that. We can only hope it fits.

I pulled the A Pillar Plastic on my old 2015 when I installed a rear view mirror and then I had it off my 2017 to change the tweeters, was thinking the bottom by the dash was different but it would also make sense for Toyota to have kept it the same shape to save money.

Sliders don't have steps or that defeats the purpose of sliding on them. You get hung up on steps. Best you can do is get a custom slider or get one that doesn't have any angle. Mine are at a 30 degree up angle, not good for much other than rock protection. Could have the supports a little longer and no up angle.

Some companies have 0 degree angles on the sliders but they are custom order. I would check with bamf and mobtown off-road for sure sell them. You can defiantly use those as a step.

I am 99. 9 percent certain it will not work. I have inspected where the dash meets the pillar on both. my friends 2nd gen and my 17. The shapes are completely different.

Best test is to see if the airbag deploys properly from the designed weakness lines in the plastic past the added handles being added.
Personally I wouldn't risk it for just an added handle.
Some here I've seen will not.

2nd Gen used the same Cab and had a handle there.

And the same tested design is being used, not harbor freight hooks in some instances ?
I bet 99.99% of people can't even explain how the airbag gets out of that housing, less past the added handle mods if ever.
IMO its an area that shoudn't be modded.

Yes! Yes it did. I have found a way, but don't really like it. The a pillar is big/ wide / thick enough to actually grab and pull on.

Do you happen to have the measurement center to center on the mounting bolts? Wanting to do something similar but with a solid handle.

What a jip. Google "2017 Hilux Toyota interior" then set to "images". The 2017 Hilux has left and right pillar grab handles no mater what side the steering wheel is on. The handles match but do not look like our single. Anyone know how to get Hilux part numbers and a source.

The Hilux is not the same as a Tacoma, I doubt if any interior pieces would work.
