    LS.

Easy to fit. Loads or power/torque for least amount of money. But will take a lot of custom work to make it happen. But so will any motor swap.

If I can fix this 4banger, why not?

I was thinking LS would be the cheapest/straight forward. Could probably source most everything locally at pick and pulls.

LS would be awesome but as Monte mentioned lots of custom Fab. Could be totally worth it if you have places to get you stuff like motor mounts and trans mounts/crossmembers as well as custom drive shafts. Talk to @BradyT88 I think he was going down the ls path?

Would all be custom for mounts I think. You'd have to get decent at fab skills and wiring.

Take a lot of work, but would be awesome.

Everything I have looked at in the past year has always pointed to LS swap. Lots of support to swap that motor into anything and I have seen that it's been done on 2nd gens a few times. I really want a project that will challenge and keep me busy.

Obviously the first step is to pull the 4 banger. I have a few contacts in town that could help me with the fab work. I'll have to learn more about the wiring portion though. In no way do I think I am ready for something of this scale but I don't think anyone ever is. I learn best from doing so I might as well jump in.

What's the worse that happens? I have a truck that doesn't run .

I think if you're gonna swap anything, and LS is a great starting point. With the wealth of information and aftermarket support out there, there's probably no better platform to be dealing with.

Thought about it, but stupid amounts of money, for all the high speed stuff I do I wanted to go with an aluminum block LS to save 100lbs up front and those are $3K-$5K used last I looked. Plus you will have to do a trans (you may be able to do this a lot cheaper if you have a manual, but for an auto it get more spendy because you will need an added controller or something to shift the trans). You will need an ECU to handle and run the engine, plus a lot of custom wiring since Toyota's ECU won't talk to anything not Toyota. Then you have to add the cost of drivelines and more than likely axles since the factory Toyota ones won't last long under a heavy 2nd gen with that much power. I figured all said and done just for the engine, trans and drivelines I was looking at $15K minumum and I don't have that cash flow.

I found a used 1GR engine that I need to rebuild from a wreck for $100, but I haven't had the free time to mess with it much. I got my old engine pulled and everything has just been sitting. Working a full time job with a long commute and owning a house with a large yard just eats up all your free time...

All good points! I'm going to focus on getting the current engine out and looking at it. Ideally I could just fix that and start to piece things together for a bigger swap. I wish the 1GR was a straight forward swap and the engine wasn't so pricey. Lizzy is on board with a swap though. I don't think she realizes how much time/money it will cost, but she has always wanted to own/drive a trophy truck. This could be my chance haha.

Well yeah. I wasn't suggesting I would be anywhere near one. Just that she wants one and that gives me some freedom. If it sounds fast, goes fast, and can fly (whether it breaks on landing or not), it's a trophy truck in her eyes .

Haha fair enough. Beef up the suspension a bit and you'll be good.

Busy times boys! I got married on June 30th and have been working like crazy since. I ordered new tools to treat myself and BabyT will be rolling in the garage next weekend. I have a river trip this weekend or else I would start sooner.

How has everyone been? I feel like I never have enough time to check TW anymore :(.
