I want a 4k complete SA swap on my tacoma.... I think I over budget by 15k on my setup then if others are getting it done with 4k...

DB FT 6" lift is great in my opinion. Everyone use their truck differently and everyone will have their own opinion on how it should be built. At the end of the day, it's your money, your truck, so you should do what best suit you.

Nearly $20,000 for a solid axle swap? yikes. I'm sure you know you can do it for cheaper, like with a used axle, non-redonk expensive bypass coilover shocks, $8000 axles, etc... I don't think 4 or 5 grand is too far off for a budget build (that would still perform better than a 6" IFS kit). You're obviously not going for the budget build.

I agree that everyone has their own needs and style. I just happened to offer my opinion on the subject, since, you know, internet. I see a lot of people who want a sweet truck with huge tires and he wants to wheel too. From my perspective, if you want to go wheelin (muddin if different, lol), you want the minimum lift possible to keep your center of gravity low. 95" of people out there don't need anything more than 33's. My brother ran the rubicon in the 90's with 32's and an open rear diff. That's why I don't like 6"+ bracket lifts for wheelin, and really, not even for street use since I'm not really a fan of the brodozer look in general. My main point is that you need to decide if you want the look, or if you want performance. If you want performance, a 6" bracket lift is not where it's at - you'd be better off with a 3", better shocks, and better tires.

Who have a 4k SA tacoma you know?

Mine's a budget built on my 01 with d44 and it double that. Little things such as home made frame plate, shock hoop, ruf leaf spring is on the cheaper side but for knuckles, steering kit, ring and pinion etc adds up really quick.

I'd like to know who here built their SA tacoma with the basic parts for 4k please chime in.

Just yank a 1ton out the junk yard and some leafs off a old jeep. Weld it on, get a drive shaft and a oil pan and you done

And you personal did this to your tacoma and cost 4k? Hope someone with experience like you know that 1t cost more then your typical d44. You're forgetting a who lot more then just yanking and welding stuff on, lol.

If it was that easy, I think I'll see more tacoma with solid axle.

I find that funny. Weld the leaf spring to your axle then spring to frame, lol. Don't need any steering setup, just force the current tacoma setup to work and you're good to go. Oh boy... btw, jeep spring sits way lower then factory tacoma rear setup, now that's a good stance. I think it's between to run ruff front / rancho 44044 then jeep

Back on topic op, it's your money and your truck. Do what fit your interest from full blown suspension lift to drop bracket or what ever is in between.
