I'm about to drop some serious coin on a 2018 TRD Sport DC, Shortbed. I need to have a basic tonneau cover. Toyota's runs $800, and I think another $150 to install. Does anyone have it? Do they like it or prefer other hard shell models?

I have a couple of the Rugged Tri-fold hard tonneau covers and like them. Very simple to put on and take off.

I had the dealer pull an oem cover off a used truck on the lot and put it on mine when I bought. If I remember correctly it was only $300 and the cover looked like new.

If I remember right, and what others have said here. You can only get OEM Hard tonneau cover when order from factory, not an accessory item. $600.00 when order out on truck. It can be pieced together from parts department but over $2K (Crazy). they sell on here used for around $400 to $500, also craigslist. Mine came on truck in dealer trade, leaks in carwashes. Rain it's fine.

I had the OEM tri-fold soft cover thrown in on the deal and it's been fine so far. I also had the Pro Grill and Tub mats thrown in. And they threw in the winter tire package right from the start.

Don't be afraid to ask for free stuff before you sign the deal.

+1 for the Bakflip MX4. Love mine, took maybe an hour to install. Its low profile and folds all the way to the cab so you can still use your bed for tall stuff. Was able to get mine for 800 shipped.

I got my oem used for 450 but it was basically new with a few thousand miles.

I have even stood on it too but I'm only 160. Works like it's supposed to and looks great. Agree that it leaks in car washes but rain is fine.

I like the backflip, it's easily the best aftermarket tri fold.

The OEM tri fold is much higher quality now. The initial 2016 tri folds had issues but the latest OEM tri folds are surprisingly well made.

I have the same one, going on a little over 2 years and still looks new. Easy to install and easy to remove when needed. One person 5-10 minute job. Just depends what you'll have stored back there. I got it for when we lug around kids stroller and other small things. Congrats on the new truck, welcome to the Forum!

Bakflip MX4, mine has been really good, no real problems with leaking, just seal the rails during install.

I'm really happy with my LEER Trilogy X2T. You can break into the BAKFlip with a coat hanger.

I went with a Gator Tri-fold for around $250. It's inexpensive, easy to install and comes on and off very easily.

    Perfect for my needs.

Count me as a fan of the Tyger soft tri-fold.
