Pulled the dogs off and found another bear back on the top about 8 this morning, dumped out on it.

After 5 packs of dogs, 2 trees and a lot of time the dogs put it in its last tree.

Just getting back to camp now.

Got my mount back. Really wish I wouldn't have messed the velvet up getting it out of the field but it's still cool. Now I need to find a place to put it in the house.

The guy offered to use fake velvet to fix the tears but said in his opinion it would be too obvious and look tacky. The velvet was just about perfect when shot but bouncing 15 miles over the rocks on my atv caused a couple straps to slip and tore some off.

The good news?? Both the wife and I drew Muzzleloader bull tags!!! :humble::yay:
The bad news?? Both the wife and I drew Muzzleloader bull tags... in different areas. Same season dates, only 2 weeks long.
In NV, if you don't want the tag or cant make the hunt, you can turn them in, get your points back and put in again next year. If you keep the tag, even if you dont hunt, you cannot put in for 7 years. Been thinking a lot about it, my tag is a great tag, wilderness area, big bulls, likely 360"+, September, not many people way in there. I could take the horses and live with the elk all season. But that leaves my wife high and dry, with minimal help. Her tag is a good one, and a great one for her, with the possibility of 350"+. So I think I have decided to turn mine in, just haven't done it yet... Don't want to. People apply for 15+ years to get this tag. I probably will never draw it again. :pout:

Years ago the wife and I both drew goat tags for different areas. Hers was by far harder to draw. It's a tough decision for sure. How understanding is she? Do you have someone you trust to hunt with her? Is she willing to hunt without you? What does she think about you turning in your tag?

She is understanding, but since mine is a better tag she wants to turn hers in. I have a few people that I trust you take her, but I really want to be there. So if we were to keep both tags we would split the season. Her hunt we'll have plenty of help, my hunt would be her brother and I. Because no one else is willing to put in the work to get in there. Last year in her area we killed her uncles 345 bull the first day we were in there. But of course you know we can't count on doing that again.

WOW....he would've been a stud....like someone said above, sure wish we couldve seen at least a trail cam pic of him in the fall with those brow tines.
My friend and I did the same thing for October NM bull hunts. We both applied for the same exact units and we both drew tags for the same week of hunting, but different units. We have come to terms that we must divide and conquer and I'm now recruiting a hunting buddy. I hope you and your wife can figure something out that benefits both of you! Good Luck!

Good luck on what ever you do. Hopefully you get to do both. I would probably give mine up to before letting my wife give hers up. It's a tough decision either way.

This one was in the road at my sons bus stop. He was mad getting picked up by the tail and moved. Probably about the circumference of a basketball. No soup today!

Went to check my camera I set a month ago to find it tore off the tree, no pictures of what did it so I kinda assume it’s a 2 leggged creature, which sucks. But there’s also some little claw marks in the tree so I dunno. Weird deal.

I did get 3 thousand pictures of wind though.
