Thanks for the response!!!! Well I have a 2017 Tacoma Sport with the upgrade JBL audio and I’ve noticed a rattle type noise when I play music....only on the front driver side. It comes and goes, sounds like a cheap plastic rattle... I’ve removed the panel and checked all of the plastic hardware and taped everything down... it seems to go away and then it comes back..

Whatever I learn from you guys
Welcome to TW. This site will want you to spend money on your truck!

If it’s under warranty have the dealer fix it. Otherwise, a common rattle on the passenger a pillar. I also suggest dynamat or other sound deadening material if you want it to sound a little better. The search button is your friend ;)

Thanks guys but I took it to the dealer and they couldn’t “replicate “ the sound .... no help there. I’m just going to take the panel off again and turn the volume up and try to pinpoint the rattle

While you have the door panels off you might want to put sound deadener in the doors.

On my 16 limited I get a rattle.. its more noticeable with songs that have high bass at medium volume.. it does it also at high volume but blends in a bit more.. the issue with mine is the window switch panel on the driver door when I hear the rattle I can put my hand down on that area and the noise instantly goes away. try that I plan to dynamat when I upgrade the audio to cure the issue.

I used it in my doors when I changed out the speakers, it makes the doors sound and feel more solid.

Shaker, where did you put the sound deadening material? I have some but never installed it when I did my speakers. I was kinda sorta pissed when I got in there and found what I found. Had truck to dealer to fix a faulty switch which they said just "came unplugged" which is total bs and they pulled back the vapor barrier and never put it back and broke retaining clips on my trim and not replaced. Trifecta of fuck ups. Done with the dealership.

I reached inside the door cavity and did the outer door skin, I probably could have done more by doing the area under the door panel too.

my 15' had this same issue, dealer told me they couldn't replicate it so didn't know how to fix it. actually just learned to deal with it. very annoying. if you have the panel off id recommend insulating anywhere where it looks like two hard surfaces could touch/rattle with foam tape.

The dealership can never replicate any issues but thank god for TW and people who are willing to put the work in themselves. I reluctantly got the JBL "upgrade" for the extra safety features but the obnoxious high pitched rattles/vibrations drove me insane, especially with any kind of acoustic music. I ended up following some of these guys' tips https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...d-rattle-and-vibration-noise-resolved.462969/ I got some felt pads that go on furniture legs so they don't scratch the floor (like these https://www.lowes.com/pd/Scotch-2-Pack-4-in-x-6-in-Brown-Strip-Felt-Pad/1000422103) and cut them to size for all the different areas. I padded up both A-pillars, sides of the dash, the mount of the rear-view mirror, and all over the window switch panels which most of the rattles were coming from. This took out 90% of the plastic vibrations and I can finally crank up my music in peace. Hope this helps anyone who is annoyed as I was with the constant rattle

Are you sure it's not the speaker itself bottoming out/distorting?

Not a ton in the door panel to rattle around, two harnesses and two cables really.

You should be able to press hard from the outside and isolate the vibration if it's the panel.

I don’t recall driving or owning a vehicle that didn’t rattle somewhere with heavy bass. Sound deaden and foam tape! Lots of videos and help online for this as it’s a very general issue across all brands. The GMC Colorado diesel I test drove before pulling the trigger on the Tacoma shook the doors so much with moderate volume/bass that the wing mirror had to be readjusted.
