Tail light mod (both lights used as brake and signals)?

Now don't confuse the 2 mods.

Those doing the VLED Triton V6 switchbacks in the reverse light area do NOT need the TaT modules and resistors. The red tail lights only act as brake lights (and not blinkers). To do this, you will need to modify your tail light housing a bit so that the switchback can fit into the reverse light socket. Pictures and videos of that were posted a few pages back by @Kopasz (pages 23 & 24).

The Turn as Tail mod is only for those wanting to turn the entire red "C" tail light into a brake & blinker combo with no amber being used for the blinker (as shown in the video I shared on the last page).

What resistors are you running and what spec? 50w 6/8/10/12ohm? Link to which ones?

So, if I’m running load resistors on my front turns. I wouldn’t need ones for the rear. Correct?

It might be possible since it seems as if the front/rear signals act as if they are part of the same circuit (but still seperate driver side and passenger side circuits), but from what I remember, I don't think anyone has tested this yet.

Thanks for the illustration! I want to definitely do this for my taillight, but quick question.
On both sides, the Blinker section wire (yellow and blue), do you have to connect that to the Brake section wire? I'm assuming by T-Splicing it?

You don't "have" to connect those blinker wires to the brake signal wires, but it looks sooooooooooooooooo much nicer when the top and bottom light up together (making the full red "c" light up when you apply the brakes.

Yes, a simple T-splice is all you need to do that connection just like @Kopasz shows in his pictures a few pages back.

This adapter should work to hold in those 7440 lights, you can get a file for 3dprinter at thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2941466 There are two heights in case the LED's are long. get a friend to print or use one of the print+delivery services out there. it's a small part and should be pretty cheap, on my printer it was about $0.40 for the pair, online services will charge $5-10 for a pair.

Thanks Eric. So it looks like I owe you $1.60? Still haven’t tried them out—I’ll do that today when we get back from Skamania. I suspect I’ll ask you to print me up one more taller/longer adapter.

I've finally got around to revising my Tritton adapter. The V3's were adjustable length so the 7440 adapter didn't really need to be a critical length. Well, now Vled's made the new V6's a fixed base so the adapter will need to be precise. After doing a bunch of these 7440 conversions, this is what I came up with. A snap clip installation, chamfered screw slot and a stop. All at the correct seating depth for proper light distribution in the bowl.
I have some in the printer now, if they look good I'll offer them up to guys that want to do this mod.
