just curious if anyone can relate. I have a 2016 Tacoma sport manual transmission with 50000 kms(31000 miles). Now, when I bought the truck I thought manual was amazing, and the only real issue I ever had with it was. If I was in traffic and crawling at really low speed 7km/h(4m/h) in 1st gear would be mostly smooth but with the airconditioner on the truck becomes almost unbearably jerky. Is this normal? oh also going over a speed bump at low speed also creates this jerky movement as well. If anyone can relate, or have any insight on what would help would be awesome!

Higher engine RPMs. Sounds like you’re letting it get close to stalling.

I have not encountered this issue. Can you get it on video?

My auto does it when the ac compresser kicks in. Normal but still an annoyance

My truck will do that too. RPM increase when AC kicks on is quite aggressive (on a 2016 anyway).

It did it from day one, and it still does it now that I'm tuned.

    Normal I guess.

Could it be that your old serpentine belt is slipping a bit when that A/C kicks on at low RPM..??

Try a new belt and keep the old one for an "on the road spare".....

The jerky over speed bump movement I have had on all my manual vehicles. Its the combination of drivetrain slop and flex with a lack of a torque converter to make everything slushy. Also your foot on the accelerator pressing with every surge, especially using work boots. I have always just lightly ridden the clutch and re engaged the clutch when I feel it start to happen. I have not noticed any difference with the a/c off, but then again, I never really drive with the a/c off down here south.

I have no jerky feelings over speed bumps, I push the clutch in and let the front tires coast over and then let the clutch out for the back tires to go over.

Thanks everybody for the replies. It seems with the AC on takes a lot away from the engine maybe I’m just being picky

The AC compressor puts a decent load on this low torque engine. I feel the drivetrain sway over speed bumps aswell. I will clutch and coast over the speed bumps or I will slow to about 3-4mph and go over the bump at an angle that will allow the front tires to go over one by one instead of together at once.
