Turning the bed into a portable living room.

    Hi All,

As some of you have noticed from my other thread (SR vs OR - Decision Time), I have just purchased an OR Taco. First ever truck.

One of my reasons for buying a truck, along with its ability to tow a boat and camper, is because I want to turn the bed into a portable living room.

Yes, I want to park up somewhere pretty, up against a nice lake/river/mountain/etc. and play guitars and video games in the bed.

I come for assistance in what I should buy to make this a reality. I figure I need a generator to plug my guitar amp and playstation/tv into, because the outlet on the Taco isn't meant for this. Somebody recommended a Honda generator that runs around $700-1000.

I would ideally like to keep my "living room setup" in the truck bed at all times, so I can bust out the "living room" at will. I figure I will get a beanbag for seating.

Right now, I am looking for some sort of sun shield. I don't want a full blown tent to fit over the bed, just something that I can pull over to shield me from the sun when I am sitting on the beanbag playing guitar/video games. The sun shield must set up easily, and will also provide protection from insects.

I also need recommendations for a good waterproof tonneau cover that will fold up easily to allow access to the living room. Ideally, I will also have a nice thick bed mat to lay out on.

I will also need to be able to rig up my mountain bike wherever the living room may take me, and have some sort of way to transport my kayak as well. Note that I do not expect to have room for both the kayak and the living room at the same time.

Please feed me some ideas!!! I know this may sound rediculous, but it was my reason for buying Taco over 4Run

so besides playing video games in the bed of your truck you basically want to do what like 40% of this forum has done.

Nope, I want to get out of my man-cave in the house...to the great outdoors of the Taco bed!!! While still enjoying my favorite hobbies.

Right now the most important thing is some kind of enclosure that provides sun and insect shielding, while not being a full-blown tent.

Also, a waterproof tonneau cover that folds up easy to allow access to my living room.

Surely after all the great advice you got in the other thread you aren't going to go off road to play an electric guitar and video games right? Right?

If you are, here's what you need to do: sell your truck and get a ez up shelter, set it up in the back yard and run an extension cord to the house. Play guitar and video games to your hearts content.
    Geez.
