What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

But it like caused the truck to loss 1/4” of lift? I dunno, I need an Alignment anyway, the last month has been hard on ol’ gray.

 

Thats what im worried about. But for 300 bucks and my factory springs with AAL are frowning, I couldnt pass em up.

 

I bought some SPC UCA's used with 40k miles on them. Should I worry about replacing the bushings?

Lol whatever man! A suggestion was mount them above the shock tower, your hoses may be long enough for that and it would be completely out of the way and when you go to 285’s you wont rub either

Also, resi's don't really help cool. That isn't their main purpose so IDGAF about "wrapping" them. I needed a mount to hold them on the frame. Working just fine. and was easy and cheap.

Awesome, thanks. I rented the bearing and seal kit from Oreilly's, it should help. I think I put the driver's seal in backwards, which is the source of all my issues. Diving back in after work tonight! At this point, I can have a cv swapped in 45 minutes lol.

 

Little advice for next time putting them in. There's a little c-clip on the end of the shaft (going into the diff) aim that down and put some grease so it doesn't move. Then put it as far into the diff as possible. Get some wood and keep the axle as level as possible, place the wood on the other end of the shaft (the side that goes into the spindle) and hit it with a hammer a few good times. I've found this to be the best method

This writeup I used mentions aiming the gap in the c clip to 12 o'clock. I didn't have much trouble getting the axles in, just a couple taps on a prybar against the lip to overpower the c-clip and it slides right in. The driver's side did get stuck in the diff, I've found a bunch of sites for other vehicles that mention the aftermarket cv's have a slightly larger c-clip and I think that might apply to the NAPA axles I'm running. Eventually popped it out with a hard, quick jerk of the prybar.

You have to have them added by a place like downsouth motorsports or go long travel

any of the big name brands will add resi's if you ask and pay for it.

If you're serious about tuning the ride of the truck, its the best way to go.
