Had a bad news good news experience after I changed the oil. The trans had been acting up a little so I had been planning on doing the solenoids. After looking around under the truck when dropping the engine oil, it looked like the trans cooler line was a little weepy and a close inspection revealed some nasty looking rust and a leak for sure. I chopped out the rotted area and put some hose on it with some heat shielding as it's fairly close to the exhaust.
Naturally it was saturday afternoon and starting to rain so there was some impetus to get it done. The local auto parts store had Valvoline ATF that says it's compatible with Toyota WS so I got a quart into it to get the level up and it seems to be doing the job. I guess the solenoids weren't the issue, it was just low on ATF....
We'll see how it works out, seems to back to good health. The metal line will be replaced eventually but it's been effing rainy and cold and doesn't look like it'll stop for few days.

Update: Trans is shifting like buttah, very happy with the whole outcome.

Would it really have been such a problem to stick with a dipstick??? Just sayin....

Dropped my rig off at the body shop to have the repairs made to the rear passenger bedside. They other persons insurance cut me a nice check and should have a little extra fun money to spend on the truck (If my wife lets me)

Also had my pop n lock tailgate lock dropped off. Look forward to installing it when I get the truck back.

Thanks! I did not do a write up, just followed some of the better ones on here. Total cost was a little over 440 counting paint. I bought the kit when it was on sale for memorial day. So glad to have the chrome gone now.

I had no idea they were that small, and to fit so neatly on the back hitch.
wow, definitely need to do some research on this. looks quite fun.

Went fishing with my son yesterday, used the truck to get to a few neat spots.
Before anyone gets too excited, he was casting with the plastic fish that came with the Kiddie rod, but still, he got some good distance!

It's a blast. Yeah the hitch hauler is super convenient.

Well, its 280lbs and stock rear leafs (I am lifted 3" in the front so it amplifies the stressed look..) I have Dakar leafs, just haven't installed yet.

Of course. I always do the fill before the drain. Just a smart thing to do.

I used a six sided box wrench and a cheater bar, was pushing against the spare and pulling down and it would not budge. then it gave, but what gave were the corners of the bolt head...
