I cut some. Before and after. I also grinded out the mount and turned the bolt around the other way.

If front LT, roll cage is next. Won't tow with caged truck.

Aside from the obvious lack of not using the long-travel arms' lengths to their full potential for travel range, are there any other downsides to using mid-travel coilovers with long-travel hardware until I can afford proper LT coilovers. I'm trying to do a step-based approach to going LT up front -- mostly for crawling.

You'll have to redo bumps and limit straps when you swap to longer shocks, and have to make sure you bump and strap the shorter shocks correctly. Other than that, no

    Edit

Actually depending on how far out your front kit mounts the lower shock mount, valving/ spring rate could be noticeably off, and you could have very little droop from ride height

Being a cheap and lazy asshole, I'd probably just not run limit straps at all until I get proper coilovers, which means just drive carefully and no hitting whoops at speed. I can easily relocate the bumps though. Thanks, man!

Well there could be more to it than that Kris, because you are running a drop bracket kit on your truck you are probably going to need a custom CO built with the correct extended and collapsed lengths. If you put your current CO's on a LT kit you are going to sit really low too. Just be patient and save up a do it once, do it right.

See my edit, and didn't know about the drop bracket. Could run into issues as @Evenflow said with using those shocks

Yea, I'm aware I'll have to get custom coilovers. I'm trying to be patient but I have to take apart the front suspension one of these weekends now because my King coil springs snapped while mall crawling (literally). So while I take the coilovers out to be rebuilt, I'm also swapping out my OEM LCAs for fresher OEM LCAs (with better condition bushings and balljoint).. I figure with all the work involved I should probably just take everything out and swap in LT hardware.

well you can't swap in any LT hardware if you're just installing OEM lowers anyways.

    Buy once, cry once.

Just do it right or don't at all.

It will not work buddy, your current coilovers will not work with a LT kit, the actual overall length is too short so you you lower your front end probably a few inches
